Put the Holidays in Your Face

December 24, 2008

Balls.

There is one reason why I have continued to feed myself, bathe, and otherwise keep myself alive these past few days: enchiladas. My Dad is making enchiladas for tomorrow’s Christmas lunch. I’m in. I’m so alive and I’m so in.

I’m going to come out of the next few family laden days with a camera full of pictures of my little sister doing various silly things, my uncle tormenting unsuspecting family members with a can of Redi-Whip Cream, and my Dad in several Christmas inspired aprons.

Mostly I just wanted to stop and say Hey! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Cheers to celebration, family, friends and food! It’s important. You’re important…. and I mean that. Have a great, belly filling holiday, and thanks for coming by and saying nice things like you always do. It means a lot to me.

Still looking for those last minute recipe? Here’s a few goodies you might be able to whip up without heading out to the store.

Peppermint Meringues

Just the Best Chocolate Brownie Cookies um… ever.

Make ‘em love you Apple Crisp.

Mocha Rum Cake… for serious.

Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Your cranberry coffee cake is in the oven as I write- we’ll warm it up while we check out our stockings in the morning. I can’t wait — for any of it! Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Joy!

I made your peppermint meringues for Christmas (sans the red food coloring gel) – they were a hit.

Keep up the great work on your blog!

It has been a such a Joy-ous Christmas!
I’ve made the all-pupose holiday cake (apple bourbon craisen) four times, including last night for our Holiday Hoopla today, sugar crusted ginger chewies six times, pumpkin butterscotch cookies, peppermint meringes (YUM! YUM! YUM! – that’s from my kids) and lastly (also for today) the devlish PBF Treats.

I would have to say that your blog accounted for about a third of my baking this Christmas…What would we have done without you?!?!?

I hope you are having a very merry Christmas, enjoying your friends and your family. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you for all of you yummilicious recipes and baking inspiration!

Ok…so…there are so many things I want to say, but first and foremost…hand over the enchilada recipe.

I’ve tried hundreds (okay, maybe not hundreds but dozens fo’ sho’!) and I haven’t found one yet that makes me tingle enough to want to pour the sauce all over my body. This is where you come in. See? Simple.

Have I asked too much?

Happy homemade holidays!
