Congrats to the winners! I just wanted to mention that strawberries can be cut into cute little heart shapes (see Baker’s Banter today) and that would make your Strawberry Cake the perfect Valentine sweet for your sweeties!

Hi Joy,

This cake is wonderful! My Mom and I share Feb. birthdays. She’s a great cook and I bake so we take the kitchen in turns. I made this for our birthday dinner this year and she loved it so much after one bite, she said, “You’re leaving the leftovers with me, right?” Then she called me the next day and asked for another one to take up to my grandmother and “her pals” so I whipped up another and when I delivered it tonight, she said, “I need one for a baby shower on Saturday, okay?” Thank you for this recipe and all the others you share so generously.
p.s. the librarian in me loves that you cite any original sources you use!
