Vintage Joy the Baker

Happy Easter from vintage Joy the Baker.

Oooooh 1994… thanks for the memories.

There are a few things I’d like you to take note of in the photo.

-Yes, my hair is comically triangle shaped and I am trying to rock curly bangs.

- Yes, I made a bunny cake decorated with festive jelly beans.

-Take a look at that foil lined baking sheet.  I decorated it with Easter stickers.  Oh my.

- That’s my Dad standing in the doorway.  I like to think that he’s proudly standing there watching his daughter pose with a pretty stellar cake.  He might just be looking at my unfortunate hair.  Hm….

Happy Easter. :)

After I convince myself I’ve done enough thesis work in the lab today, I think heading home and trying out one of your recipes will be a nice way to end off the holiday!

Happy Easter!

I too used to have comically triangle shaped hair… actually, I still would if I cut it shorter…

Anyway, have a great day! I’m going to go bake some muffins!

Ha Happy Easter J
My mom who passed away a few years back always made a bunny coconut cake just like that every year…funny how we take things for granted. She always had a small basket with my name on the Easter Eggs as well as some chocolates & J beans..but she never decorated the tin foil like you :o) Awesome smile & thanks for the wonderful memories..

I’m sure I made that very same cake more than once when my daughter was younger – and probably served it on a foil lined piece of cardboard. Let’s face it, our Dad’s loved us in spite of our funny hair-dos! Happy Easter to you.

Didn’t we all have hair like that (or wish we did) in the 90′s?. The bangs, the perms, the hairspray. I was so there with you. And how sad is it that although I love the food aspect of your website, I find myself on here commenting on your hair. Seriously. Thanks for everything!

Love the pic. I had triangle hair too! My kids love to make fun of those vintage pics. : )
I just realized I missed your giveaway! Boo-hoo! : (
I made your yummy chocolate chip pancakes for my fam and friends on saturday. They were fabulous. We also loved those carrot cake pancakes (that was a couple of weekends ago).
I made an icebox cake with homemade thin chocolate cookies and whipped cream on Friday. SOOO good!
Thanks for taking the time to share your recipes. I love trying them.
Happy Easter to you too! : )

Hi, Joy! Way back on February 25 you mentioned the Magnolia Bakery Cookbook as being a good place for cupcake recipes. Well, thanks for that! On your good advice, I went to them looking for a recipe simple enough for my five year old son. Today, as my nine year old, Lucy, and I were preparing Easter dinner for our family, she helped five year old Reilly make the cupcakes for dessert! They were green, iced with green icing. (Reilly’s choice.) They tasted delicious! Thanks for your help in making our day special!

Awesome. I made some cupcakes last week for a friend and instead of making the 2nd dozen, I made 3 4-inch cakes instead in order to make a mini bunny cake. It came out looking like an evil lobster, or a wrench, I couldn’t decide :)

Great picture! As someone who also rocked curly triangle hair, I can definitely relate! Hope you had a great Easter!

Sadly, I think I have a few of these pictures myself. I usually had a bad perm in most of them… but still very embarrassing. Been watching this blog for a while… great great content!

hope u had a great weekend!
