You + Me = Picnic?

The truth is… I think we should totally hang out. You and me, and you, and you and me. Can we get together!?
I mean it. It’s just about summer, it’s beautiful outside, the parks are just begging us to visit, and we’re still wading our way through this financial mess. In other words… we’re kinda broke and it’s sunny out, right?
What say we all get together for a picnic? No joke. We’ll have lemonade and cupcakes, we’ll throw around a Frisbee (don’t worry, I suck), I’ll bring some cookies to decorate, loads of them… we can talk about baking and blogging and anything else we’re equally obsessed with. It’s on me. Are you in?
Think of it as one of those fancy blogging conventions except with cupcakes and waaaay more fun.
I haven’t planned this whole shin dig yet. It’s still just a thought bubble floating above my head. What I need to know is… well… if you’re in the Los Angeles area, would you come? For real. Be honest. Don’t let me throw a party and buy balloons and then not show up.
If you think you’d like to come to a Joy the Baker Big Fat Picnic Party where I bake things and you come eat them… if you think you’d bring your friends and family and dogs and birds… then leave a comment in this post expressing interest. Be real. I need to know if I’m an absolute maniac for dreaming something like this up or not. Your thoughts, I need ‘em.

well, it seems that, living here in texas, i’m a lot closer to you in LA than many of your readers are! however, that’s still not close enough for a picnic. what a bummer…

Btw, I love Jody’s idea of “Joy’s First Annual International Picnic Extravaganza” (very catchy!). Always looking for an excuse to do something fun and food related. People could send in their pics from wherever they had their picnic.

Joy, you’re making all your international readers so jealous! I would love to be there. Maybe on the day you do it, you should let us all know, and we can try to have our own versions in our respective cities. We can even pick a common menu! What do ya think? I’ll set up the Montreal chapter :)
If only…I will admit that when I was in LA in April I made a pilgrimage to Clementine just because you’d recommended it. (It was great!) I peeked around in case you were having your Saturday coffee there at the time. Alas. So if a future LA trip coincides with a Joy the Baker picnic, I’m definitely in. But for now, I’m in Texas.
I only wish that I lived in LA so that I could join you…because I would. In a heartbeat!

I’m in NJ but don’t drive. How about anyone in NJ come to my house? I have a little gazebo, live ahlf a block from the bay, and would love to bake & host!! We could make this “Joy’s Picnic Day”, tak& send pics back & forth, and chat about how much we all love you from all over the world!!! Again, sweet Joy, you are my muse!!!

I don’t have my own blog but I do looooove to bake so I can talk about that lol. I can also tell you in person how jealous I am of your camera! I’m actually about to get a slr but I don’t think I can afford quite that great a zoom. Something in the middle. So I guess that means I’ll be jealous of your macro? Its rare to meet people in LA who think baked goods are awesome and not the devil… Isn’t that what treadmills and daily walks with dog are for?
i’m in nyc and can’t get to la but if anyone in the nyc area is interested i think we could put something together in central park and share cupcakes and baking stories and take pictures and share them here with other such themed parties across the land…i’m so down for this!
