You + Me = Picnic?

June 3, 2009

joythebaker

Me in a tree.  Wanna join me?

The truth is… I think we should totally hang out.  You and me, and you, and you and me.  Can we get together!?

I mean it.  It’s just about summer, it’s beautiful outside, the parks are just begging us to visit, and we’re still wading our way through this financial mess.  In other words… we’re kinda broke and it’s sunny out, right?

What say we all get together for a picnic?  No joke.  We’ll have lemonade and cupcakes, we’ll throw around a Frisbee (don’t worry, I suck), I’ll bring some cookies to decorate,  loads of them… we can talk about baking and blogging and anything else we’re equally obsessed with.  It’s on me.  Are you in?

Think of it as one of those fancy blogging conventions except with cupcakes and waaaay more fun.

I haven’t planned this whole shin dig yet.  It’s still just a thought bubble floating above my head.  What I need to know is… well…  if you’re in the Los Angeles area, would you come?  For real.  Be honest.  Don’t let me throw a party and buy balloons and then not show up.

If you think you’d like to come to a Joy the Baker Bit Fat Picnic Party where I bake things and you come eat them… if you think you’d bring your friends and family and dogs and birds… then leave a comment in this post expressing interest.  Be real.  I need to know if I’m an absolute maniac for dreaming something like this up or not.  Your thoughts, I need ‘em.

Picnic?  Discuss.

1Cupcakes as far as the eye can see

Oh!  What if I promise to bring some of these!?

You mentioned before that you fly back and forth from LA to San Francisco. Have a Joy the Baker Big Fat Picnic in Golden Gate Park, or any park in the Bay Area and I’m there. I’ll even bring the kettle corn!!

Move to Seattle, girl…there’s TONS of parks, great people, and I would be forever your helper! (yes, I am serious…I would quit the job and have been thinking about doing that anyway)….

I would even be willing to contribute to the cost of said event just for the chance for so much fun.

Anyway, have fun with all the banda of angelinos over there!!!

ps. if you have any leftovers, mmmmm maybe you can send me one cupcake? :-)

I’m kicking myself for not checking my blogs more often, I’m in the LA area and I’ve been horribly shy about commenting but I’ve been a big fan and think it’s be awesome to meet a bunch of cool kids that also love baking in LA. Besides, who can say no to a picnic?

We pic-a-nic for real like Yogi and Boo Boo in the NW, I’m in Portland Oregon and I know the PCH Highway (101) leads to LA. My favorite cupcake is carrot cake w/ cream cheese frosting! Yum!

A Picnic sounds like a great idea, unfortunatly while I wouldn’t have to cross an ocean, I would have to cross the whole US since I’m about as East Coast as you can get in NJ.

I liked Ally’s idea of may of us picnicing on the same day/weekend.
You could make it like one of those blog challenges/events….everyone picnics and blogs thier recipes and pics.

Very impressive international and stateside following Joy!

I’m in AZ…just a hop, skip & a jump away. Depending on the date, I’d make the drive/fly. Or I could just send all my LA and SF friends who I know would be interested.

I’m from the other side of the world living in the tropics where it is summer all year round. It’ll take me 1 day to fly over there; I’ll join you in my dreams! With cupcakes and tarts and frostings and ice-creams and lemonade….Can we picnic near the beach so we can go for a dip? :D

“Awesome idea!
Name the date and time…
I’ll host a Joy Cupcake Picnic
here in western Mass…
People will host Joy Cupcake Picnics
all over the world…
We’ll all take pictures and post them…
wait, do we need t-shirts?”
Not a bad idea.:)

If I lived in the LA I’d be there in a heartbeat. That said if you host one next summer my whole family will drive down to LA for the event. We need to visit my FIL in Clairmonte and the visit could be scheduled around your picnic. :) Please let us know when you set the date, and if they’ll be one next summer….hopefully.
