Shareen. Do you know Shareen Vintage?
Oooooooh my word. Should I tell you about Shareen?
Shareen Vintage is a wonderland of vintage dresses. Ok… I’m about to combine three concepts that you probably thing an impossibility in combination: reasonably priced, magnificent condition, vintage dresses. Yes. It’s true. These concepts all work together at Shareen Vintage in downtown Los Angeles. I ain’t lyin’.
Here’s the skinny on Shareen. Her warehouse is located in a super obscure part of downtown Los Angeles. You’ll seriously question your GPS finding this place. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see the bodies at the end of the road.
Shareen Vintage is only open two days a week, and there are noooooo boys allowed inside. Why no boys? There are no dressing rooms in her secret garden of vintage dresses. Girls try clothes on around a giant bed she has fashioned in her warehouse, or beside a couch and coffee table set up… really, just wherever you can find a spot next to a mirror. Wear your pretty bra and underwear… I’m just sayin’.
My pretty pink picnic dress? Shareen Vintage. I couldn’t believe how cheap it was. Holy heck. I’m a believer.
So… now you know the secret: Shareen. Vintage. Downtown. If you find yourself at the warehouse any given Wednesday or Saturday, please just save me some good stuff… in a size six. It’s only polite… sweet, thanks!

That pink dress was/is adorable. I swear, it was MEANT for you.
I love that photo with the discarded mannequins (sp) and the, THE END, sign. It’s a work of art in its own right!
I’m anxiously awaiting the red velvet cupcake recipe. Hurry girl…I’m baking for my daughters wedding in less than three week.
;)

Joy! I just saw that you are coming to SF next month and I think you should have a picnic here too! Confession: I know you come up to the East Bay semi frequently to visit your luvah and sistah and I’m always secretly hoping I run into yu at the Southwest Terminal since I fly to LA a lot to visit familia but live in Berkeley. My BF says that my dream of casually bumping into you is sweet but I think he may be an enabler.
Anywho, if you’re not too busy when you’re up here for the conference or if you’re up here some other time and feel the urge to have a picnic part deuce, I would support that! I would also bring a pie.

What a cool place, wish it were close to me (or I was close to it)!
rebekka
Oh, my gosh. Next time I’m in LA, I am SO. GOING. THERE.
Deanna
I so wish I knew about this place while we were in LA. But I am so glad you are sharing your find now Joy. The dresses look so fun and sweet, next time I am in LA I am there!
Your dress was adorable, my daughter loved it too!
Adrianna (A Cozy Kitchen)
That’s it! I’m sucking it up and taking the trek over there–you’ve convinced me. I need a few vintage dresses in my life. :) Also, I always find great clothes at the rose bowl flea market!
mary beth
dang I wish we had one of those in Kansas! You are sweet to spread the word!
Julia
wow, this place is about a second from my studio! Thanks! I am always looking for ways to buy clothes that I have no place to wear!
Christina
Oh! And it’s open three days a week, Wednesdays too. She also opens on Thursday evening every month. Next one on Sept. 4 with wine and cheese and a talk with a music writer. :)
Christina
Definitely my favorite store. And I love how the girls and Shareen style you. :)
joythebaker
I liked it too!

Dang, wish I knew about this place a few months ago! I used to be in the LA area once a month but not anymore [my long distance relationship is now kaput :( ]
Sounds like a great place to score some awesome goods!
joythebaker
Oooh Jayme! I’m sorry! It sounds like you might just have to make a special trip down for Shareen shopping with me! I’ll buy wine and lunch after shopping….!

I want to fly to LA to go there right now!! I love it!
Do you think you are going to the foodbuzz fest in SF?? I think I’m going!
joythebaker
I don’t think I know what the foodbuzz fest is! Ooops. I will be going to Blogher in San Francisco next month though!
Kati
Now I know where that rockin’ dress came from that you had on for the picnic–wishing i lived closer, both for the cupcakes and for the beautiful vintage frocks!!
Lucy
The store sounds so wonderful – and I was wondering where your lovely picnic dress came from! Any chance of a London store soon ? ;)
Romaine of www.salad-in-a-jar.com
Sounds like my kind of store.
Love your new website look. Clean and sophisticated!
Evan
THANKS YOU! I love shopping for vintage dresses! I hope I can shop online…
Jen @ MaplenCornbread
I really wish I lived close to there, that vintage store sound wonderful!!! I love vintage stores and one JUST for woman! :)
Ann
Oooh I’ve been wanting to go and check out Shareen, but the reviews on Yelp have really put the fear in me. Is she really kinda mean in person if she doesn’t think a dress will look good on you?
joythebaker
Shareen isn’t bad at all! Shes’ a little kooky, but actually seems very nice. She tried to doll up a dress I tried on with a belt, and then fluttered off to dress up other girls. Not mean. Odd and funny… but not mean.
