a visit to the ferry building is a must whenever i go to SF! i wish i could work at miette…there stuff is soooo pretty! and don’t get me started on cowgirl creamery–stopped there on the way to the airport once…stunk up the whole plane to NYC with my bag o’ cheese.

I was surprised that you like Miette; the things I sampled there were so-so at best. Then, I just read that Pascal Rigo (a great baker of Bay Breads fame) had a hand in some changes there. Now I’m not longer surprised Miette’s (reportedly) better!

I visited SF in July for the first time. I was told by many friends that I had to visit the Ferry Building. I just about cried when I stumbled onto Miette – it was so lovely and that was before I tried any of the tasty goodies.

My 5 year old loves to help me bake. He LOVES the stand mixer. It’s so like a boy – a TOOL for the kitchen. He dumps in the ingredients (not adds it like a lady would) in the order I tell him to, and cranks on the mixer!
However, the other day he made a sandwich for the first time. He grabbed all the ingredients out by himself and put them together on the counter (like Mama does), grabbed plates for each of us and a knife and spoon. All by himself he made two PB&J sandwiches! It was, by far, the best sandwich I’ve ever had.
