Two: the number of computers I have in my posession.

Zero: the number of power sources I have for those computers.

One: dead computer.

One: out of battery computer.

One: attempted iPhone blog post.

13: the number of bottles of wine I wish to drink right now.

Four: the number of bags if Doritos I would like to eat right now.

Zero: the number of sit-ups I would like to do, ever.

One Thousand Seven Hundred Ninty Nine: the number of dollars needed to buy the MacBook Pro I love.

Three: the number of times I’ve told myself to shut-it and be thankful for what I have. Geeez.

One kabillion: the number used to represent my love for my fancy phone.

57: the number of text messages sent on that phone today.

Twenty two: the number of today’s text messages that were about The Bachelorette.

Honey beer cakin

1: the number of Honey and Beer Spice Cakes I’ve made today.

Tomorrow: when I’ll show you that dang cake instead of going on and on about my broken technology.

Almost two: the number if hours it took me to get this out.

19: the most likely number of typos in this post. I like you. My apologies.

Sent from my (douchey) iPhone.
Thank you Steve Jobs. Thank you.

Oh dear, technology is a pain in the proverbial.
I think I would be tempted to just sup the beer and eat spoonfuls of honey, but then I have issues

Looking forward to the recipe tomorrow, sounds delish

  • you are preaching to the choir.

i spent 5 minutes trying to figure out why my macbook is once again missing a tiny shard of plastic since i had this issue fixed in december.

then i spent 2 hours trying to figure out why disqus (aka disgust) doesnt work in chrome or firefox or safari despite following their directions.

not to mention i am on day 3 where i cant text message the person i text the most because my blackberry will only allow a text to them if i enter them in 3xs. like i am going to do that to them.

i lost my day to these struggles but i still got a lot done imho

i am soooo having pancakes in the am

  • I can’t wait for the beer spice cake. Sounds like something my husband would devour.

  • (pssssst. If you order the computer online and say you’re a student, you get $100 off your order. You didn’t hear it from me.)

  • I’m ridiculously sorry about your computer, but more importantly: who do you want Ali to choose on the Bachelorette? I’m pulling for Chris. He’s a sweetheart!

    • I think Chris… Don’t get me started. This topic needs an entire post to itself. Ps. Frank’s Vneck is waaaay too deep.

      • I think, now that you’ve brought it up, that this REALLY DOES need an entire post to itself. I’m highly invested in the Bachelorette. I also think she should pick Chris, but I think Frank’s her favourite. Though with the previews for Tahiti on Monday, I’m not sure quite how that’s gonna play out for her.

  • i wish bragging about your iphone was more socially acceptable, im all about it, kiiiinda thinking about getting some kind of holy union thing going on with mine.

hope your technology is nicer to you today, and you win the lotto somewhere, cause yeah, you totally need a mac, if not just for the prettiness factor.

p.s. your ingredients are ridiculously fancy. (in a very, very good way.)

  • i love my iphone….i can’t say it enough. have i tried to do a blog post from it yet? noooo. i think i need glasses for that one.
(do you like the echophone? i was thinking…)

  • I would donate a few dollars to your new Macbook pro pay pal campaign if you had one! :-) From one apple lover to another… best wishes.

Ditto what Kate said!!! Love my Mac!

  • Tax write-off!

  • My i-phone has recently taken to freezing itself. It’s the most annoying thing ever. the last time it froze it still received text messages I just couldnt access them because of the frozen screen, it also managed to take a photograph of its own frozen screen, God only knows how, ( this photo was discovered once the phone decided to unfreeze itself).

I think this temperamental behaviour is due to having dropped the phone numerous times onto hardwood floors and concrete pavements…I swear its the slipperiest phone I’ve ever owned. Or Im just becoming super clumsy as i get older and should not be allowed such a phone. :(

  • If I lost my computer, my blog would most likely consist of one short whine and nothing until the new/fixed computer arrived.
I am most impressed that you can do all this with a phone.. what do I know about modern technology ? not much, honey, not much.

besos.. from a freezing cold BA.
    C~

  • I also would like to know who you’re pulling for in the bachelorette. I vote for Chris, seriously, how could she not choose him???

  • Aiiyo, computer troubles are seriously no fun. :( Beer spice cake sounds really yummy though.

    Wei-Wei

  • oh poor you! i have been there, it sucks but then it gets better!!! keep smiling, girl!!!

  • Girl, you are so hardcore.
    *love*

  • Can’t wait to see the cake,Joy…

  • You are SOO funny!

  • Hahaha, I love the fact that you just thanked Steve Jobs at the end. Brilliantly funny and cute!

Sounds like a yummy cake – I’m looking forward to tomorrow!!

  • Just spring for the MacBook Pro already! They have a 0% credit card you can apply for if you can’t afford the upfront cost right now :) Pay it off in 12 months and it won’t cost you a cent more than the $1799… I just bought one myself. Some things in life are worth the money!

In other news, if Ali doesn’t pick Chris, she’s NUTS! They are adorable together :)

    • I know! I really should just get the dang computer. Duuuh.

Chris and Ali. Don’t even get me started. That she hasn’t just stopped the show to marry that dude is ridiculous. Dang.

  • Your posts are always so nice and funny to read. I love them and I can not wait for the beer cake!
    Love,
    Lia.

  • You are so darn cute! I’m sorry about your computer. I bought my Macbook refurbished and it works great.

I must know how you feel about the Bachelorette. I can’t stand her. I love Chris L. Do you love Chris L? He’s my favorite Bachelor/ette contestant ever. I hope she doesn’t pick him, and I hope he doesn’t become the new Bachelor.

    • You have exactly expressed my feelings about Chris. Someone needs to hug that man, for life.

    • But why don’t you like Ali? I kind of think she’s awesome. Is this the general consensus about her, that people can’t stand her? This is the first time I have indulged in any internet gossip about the show. Clearly I am missing out.

  • I can’t wait for beer cake. I can’t imagine anything better than washing down that beer cake with beer. Can’t have too much of a good thing, right?

Good luck with the computer stuff! I know that stuff is the most annoying. But this i-phone post is cute and nothing is even spelled wrong, so you are a champ i-phone blogger. Consider this a high-five in comment form.

  • I absolutely love your posts. They always make me smile! And beer spice cake??? Yes, please :-D

Oh and i think I may have left this in a previous comments (ignore away if I have) but I made the salted caramel pudding a few weeks ago. That video was rad and totally kept me from messing it up. I DID think that I burnt the sugar and frantically began whisking it but everything turned out well so I think that was just me overreacting, lol. Anyhoo, just wanted to say great recipe and overall great site!

  • iPhone…good. Cake….goood. Beer…GOOOOOOD!!! I think you are doing just fine!!! :o)

  • Sucks about the tech problems Joy, but you should definitely check out Apple’s refurb section. Slightly older processors, but full waranty and Apple Care-able for a great price. Looking forward to seeing this spice cake recipe, mesquite honey really intrigues me right now.

P.S. How do you only have two pages of apps on your phone!?

  • like ur number game,..;-) ur post always bring smile on my face thnks,.

  • You are too much…………..lol

  • Yay for technology~ I also want that Macbook Pro!

  • Here’s the plan: check Ebay for a Macbook. I got an iMac (the one with the biiiig screen) for a couple hundred dollars off the regular retail price. There are, of course, some sketchy sellers out there, but also a bunch of dependable ones who are forced to sell computers at marked down prices just because they were returned to their store, even if it was never taken out of the box or used at all.

    annnd go! Good luck!

  • You worked the word `douchey`into your blog and it worked, high-five for you:)

  • I feel your pain. I, too, love my iphone.

  • So sorry for the technical difficulties… computers suck!

And, um, thank you for commenting on Frank’s v-neck. That was driving me CRAZY! As for Chris, I’m totally becoming his stalker and considering moving to Maine to find him. My sincere apoligies to Bachelorette Ali, but we’re completely meant to be.

  • i’m sorry your computer went kaput. things will sort themselves out – i am sure. and yay for your iPhone, modern technology, however stressful it can be, is amazing.

    this cake…SOUNDS ah-ma-zing.

  • dear j the b, i can help you a little with my friends/family discount from work (aka apple)… i read this thing so much i pretty much consider you a friend haha. so if you really have your eye on that 15″ macbook pro i’d love to help you out. sorry about your computer for what it’s worth.

    i want some cake.

that is all lol : )

    • OMG. i’m in love with you.

      • if at all possible try and find someone that works at apple in california… i live in chicago? haha but everything (discount wise) is done online so it kinda doesn’t matter cuz it’s made and shipped in the same place. email me if you’re interested! i love helping… especially when it’s apple… and maybe cake involved… let’s not assume haha

  • joann beat me to the punch with the suggestion to find a friend who works at apple for the friends & family discount. i don’t work there, but figured that maybe if you posted to your blog that you’re looking for someone who does, you might score an affordable and reliable new ‘puter.

beer in cake rocks. one of my faves is guinness gingerbread cake. i make guinness ice cream to serve with. wheeee!!!

  • Apple should donate a computer to you and your cause. Go to the apple store… bring them a cake… work out a deal.

  • your blog makes my day every single day. i’ve converted many a baking girl in my life to you as well.

as for the Bachelorette, I DON’T want Ali to pick Chris because I want him for myself. unrealistic? yes. true? also yes.

  • Beer Honey Spice Cake?? I’m in!

And I’m also giving thanks for my husband the computer nerd. If I’d have known back in high school that loving a nerdy man would come with such benefits, I never would have bothered with those other guys…

  • Hahahah… bad luck, but you have a great sense of humor.

Oh, and as my blog name might suggest…. umm.. I cant’ WAIT for this recipe tomorrow!!!

  • Your writing is sooo funny!! Hope your computer situation works itself out soon.

  • To this day I have no clue how I ever lived without my iPhone… I use it for EVERYTHING… the other day I dropped it and I almost had a heart attack thinking that I would need to replace it. The hard case save it!

And don’t even get me started with my MacBook… Seriously I would married it a thousand times over if I could.

I heard (SPOILER ALERT) that Ali does not choose anyone ????? But, then I stop watching that show a loooonnnggg time ago.

  • Oh, you all are so funny!!!! I get tired of Ali always laughing, but of course, that’s better than crying!!!!
I think Chris is great, but she doesn’t deserve him!!!!
Tonight is “Big Brother”, does anyone watch this?????

  • Great post! I feel for ya!! You must have teen tiny fingers to type so much on your phone.. or just a ton of patience. Can’t wait for the cake.

  • BUY THE MACBOOK! i’ve had my pc two years, and already i just want a macbook. Great sounding cake! Looking forward to that one. Hang in there.

  • Joy- Enjoy the downtime and listen, why not grab a few more of those notebooks and get going on a cookbook. We need something tangible, something to give away to our girlfriends. We need a Joy the Baker Cookbook.

    xox

  • Chris-duh! Did you see the way he looked at her this last week? Roberto is my understudy, though. And Frank looked like he came out of an American Apparel ad. And not in a good way.

Can’t wait for the bachelorette post….I mean beer cake post…!

  • this post made my day. sounds like a day in my life every so often. awesome.

  • Joy,

I absolutely love all of your stories and recipes, but PLEASE write about The Bachelorette. Perhaps some “Get Over Him” Cookies for Ali after Frank leaves the show on Monday?? I’m pretty sure I have a recipe for those somewhere in my repertoire. :)

  • another place to check out is Amazon…every time I’m looking for something, I seem to find it there for a great price…just got cardamom 2 oz. for $6.95! (yes I know it’s not like a puter, just saying!!) The first place I go for looking now!!!
