Did you know that I podcast from my bed?

Does that make you want to listen to the Joy the Baker Podcast more or… less.  (Don’t answer that.  KThanks.)

To be clear, I actually podcast from the floor… where I sit… and my podcasting microphone and computer are on the bed.  Sometimes there’s a cat on the bed too.  I’m nothing if not completely professional.  Right?

We’re 20 episodes into the Joy the Baker Podcast and I’d like to extend a high five to each and every one of you.

Here’s what’s going down if you don’t know which way is up.  I’ll start at the beginning:

The Joy the Baker Podcast is like a weekly, 45-minute radio (but totally not on the radio) show with me… Joy the Baker, and Tracy from Shutterbean.

Sure… we talk a bit about food and blogs, but really we like to get down to brass tax…

tracy ad joy

We talk about growing up in the 90′s and why mood rings are so important to us.  We talk about red flags when it comes to boys and restaurants.  We talk about washing our hair with baking soda.  We talk about long distance relationships.  We talk about doughnuts and bacon.   We talk about road trips.   And we talk about the difference between Tracy’s married life and my single living status.  We’re girls.  We’re classy, modern, hip ladies… and we talk about stuff.

This photograph pretty much sums up our podcast.  What could go wrong there?

The Joy the Baker Podcast is featured on a site called Homefries.  Get into it!

You can download the Joy the Baker Podcast through iTunes.

If that seems complicated, you can head over to Homefries and listen to the podcast right from the post.

Here’s some things you’ve missed if you haven’t had your ears on this noise just yet:

Joy and Tracy Pay it Forward.  How to increase those good karma points.

We are Not the Cool Kids.  It’s just the truth.

Joy and Tracy are in a Long Distance Relationship.   From friendship to romance, long distance relationships are real life.

Is The Grass Always Greener?  Joy and Tracy discuss married life vs. single life, home ownership vs renting, chest and butts.  Uh-huh.  We go there.

And most recently, Joy and Tracy get in touch with their Inner Hippie.  Baking soda shampoo, coconut oil shaving gel, and homemade granola.  A little hippie never hurt anyone… right?

We made these for you.  We hope you like to listen!

  • Congrats on 20! You guys crack me up at the gym and in the car. Thank you!

  • I’ve been listening to your podcast from the very beginning, all the Summer long. You’ve made me laugh, you’ve made me laugh more, and then you made me laugh even more. It has been funny, refreshing. It has been a relief too, like having you two here, talking to me and telling me not to worry, life is beautiful even if difficult. Thanks, gorgeous ladies.

  • Hippie things: Add two tablespoons of honey to half a cup of uncooked oatmeal, and apply this to your face. Leave this on for an hour (it feels super gross, but just go with it). It makes your skin feel really nice afterwards.

Also? I don’t know how “hippie” this is because it involves Listerine, and I kind of think that sort of DQ’s this as “hippie” but anyways….get a small bowl and put some listerine in it…the yellow gross Listerine, not the cool mint stuff. Then, pour a bunch of salt in the bowl. I don’t really measure, but if I were to guess, I’d say 2 tsp’s (ish). Take a cotton ball & dip it in the mixture and dab it onto your face. If you have super oily skin like me, it really works. Just leave it on for ten minutes or so and wash it off. I suppose I should have started this out by saying this is a facial scrub. This is a facial scrub.

Lastly…garbage disposals are scary, right? Did you ever see that scary movie where the girl stuck her hand in the garbage disposal to retrieve something she dropped down there and the disposal turned on?!…if you haven’t watched it, don’t watch it. If you have, I’m sorry I evoked a painful memory. So anyways, garbage disposals are (aside from scary) sometimes smelly. If you take lemons (including the peel), run warm water and run the lemons down the disposal, your sink will smell delightful. In a pinch, just pour vinegar down the drain and it will kill the smell.

So that’s it… my hippie tricks. Love your podcast. <3

  • ohmygoodness, that sounds like a good time. i really need to listen to one of your podcasts!!

  • I just started listening to your podcast last week. I downloaded them, and have listened to two of them while I’m on the bus heading to work in the morning. You guys crack me up, and I’m sure I look like a fool, grinning wildly while I stare out the window of the bus! On Friday, I almost laughed out loud on several occasions while listening….which would have definitely made me look like a crazy bus lady! Keep up the good work!

  • Hi,
I love the podcast. I am a third of your male listeners. I think I got the maths correct. I enjoy listening to you every week.
    Keep it up,
    Bill

  • I love your blog. I think you’re funny, witty and peculiar. I love your spunk. (I believe the phrase is “brass tacks”.) Keep blogging, your pictures are beautiful. I want to be your friend.

I’m a serious geek — been online since … Dinosaur Days really — and I usually freaking hate podcasts. It doesn’t matter how interested I am in the subject, I avoid podcasts like the plague, but I LOVE Joy and Tracy. They make me laugh, smile, think and actually appreciate the simple things in life. I love their voices and the way they tease each other and go off on tangents and the irreverence of the subjects they discuss. I look forward to these podcasts every month and ration them out like precious chocolates, making sure I have at least a few in the hopper to tide me over during crappy times.

So, I basically want to say: Thank You, Joy and Tracy! Keep on Keeping On! You are both seriously loved out here in Internetlandia, even among jaded cynics such as myself.
