Here’s a fun game to play:
Grab a chef. Any chef will do.
Ask that chef what their favorite Oatmeal Cookie recipe is. I’ll bet you my favorite slippers (not that you would want those) that their favorite recipe for Oatmeal Cookies is the recipe right there on the Quaker Oats can.
I know… too easy right? Take the easy. Accept the easy. Some things are complicated. Other things are as simple as the Oatmeal Cookie recipe that I’ve been making since I was old enough to reach the counter.
Embrace the good, then add cherries and chocolate.
Because I simply can’t help myself, I jazzed these beauties up a bit with dried cherries and white chocolate chips. Use any combination of dried fruit and chocolate you like. The base recipe, with brown sugar and old fashioned oats is gorgeous enough with or without the jazz. Keep in mind that chocolate does make everything better. Fact.

OK you my friend are a lifesaver. In my quest to LIVE better in 2011 (which by the way does not mean more diet and exercise, it just means be happy as much as un-humanly possible) the decision was made to have dessert every day. EVERY DAY. And in looking up random recipes i decided i wanted oatmeal raisin cookies, but not the hard crunchy should be biscotti kind. The kind that make you slide into the cushions of your couch, put your feet up and watch Grey’s Anatomy kind. And all along you had these gems. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!
my tummy thanks you as well. :)

Bought white chocolate and dried cherries to add to a cookie, but couldn’t decide on the base. Thank you for the nudge in the direction my favorite oatmeal recipe.

These were great! The only change I made was using light brown sugar instead of dark. I doubled the recipe and used the surplus to make Ice cream sandwiches! I froze a couple dozen and then put a scoop of pistachio ice cream between two cookies and then froze them for a few hours before serving. Everyone LOVED them!

How funny, I love the Quaker Oatmeal cookie recipe too! And today I was going to take that recipe and add cherries and white chocolate. I thought I would browse around and see if anyone else was making some and you beat me to the punch. I’m glad they’re tasty. I’ll be making them to take up camping this week.

Made these for my mom to take somewhere with semisweet chocolate. They were a big hit. Oddly though some of the cookies spread out and others remained similar in size to your pictures?

Great photos… Love your blog… I have put these on my list to try… :)

Wow… these look delicious. I love cherries and chocolate, as well as oatmeal cookies, and I think I’m going to have to give these a try with either milk chocolate or white chocolate. Thank you for the fantastic recipe variation… can’t wait to sink my teeth into them!

Another awesome bit of goodness. Thanks for satisfying another pregnancy craving!

These are so DELICIOUS! I subbed dark chocolate for the white. However, I doubled the recipe b/c I was afraid I wouldn’t have enough and I haven’t finished baking but I am already up to 50 cookies!!! I would suggest you write the amount of servings in the recipe :)
