Peanut Butter, Banana, and Oat Milkshake

Bananas, nut milk, protein packed peanut butter, healthful flax seeds for beautiful insides and beautiful outsides, and thickening oats.

It’s a smoothie for your health… but it’s also feels like you’re drinking a milkshake.  Drink up and rush out the door.  There’s life to live!

Peanut Butter, Banana, and Oat Milkshake

makes about 2 1/2 cups.  one large or two small portions

Print this Recipe!

2 cups cold almond milk (soy or regular milk would also be delicious)

1 banana, cut into chunks (frozen is ideal) (definitely peel the banana… like, for sure.)

1/4 cup peanut butter

1 heaping teaspoon honey

1 tablespoon flax seeds, ground into meal

2 teaspoon old fashioned oats, ground fine

In a spice grinder, pulverize flax seeds and oats into a fine powder.  My spice grinder is just my coffee grinder really well cleaned out.

In a blender combine almond milk, banana, peanut butter, honey, and ground flax and oats.  Blend until no banana chunks remain, and the mixture is thoroughly incorporated.  Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.

Joy- you’ve inspired me to make peanut butter and chocolate fudge with my babysitting charges tonight. The very idea of making something delightfully tasty and peanutbutterchocolatey with them is making me quite excited. Thank you for inspiring and baking… and for appreciating sugary goodness.

I haven’t tried adding oats or nuts to milk shake. But then, I haven’t really been conscious about it. XD But its better to be aware of the healthy types, and I’m hoping to try this out soon. :)

How do you clean out your coffee grinder? I’ve heard using plain rice works well.

I love making banana-based smoothies. I don’t even ‘love’ bananas as-is, but in smoothies, they are…the best. Creamy perfection. And throw in some PB and I’m extra happy!

…Okay, I so needed this post ’cause as I’m typing this I’ve got a mouth full of Tootsie Roll. *chomp*chomp*chomp* :o)

…I’m with another up there – are you throwing the banana AND peel in there too? And I’m intrigued as well regarding the type of honey you got going on there Joy. Do tell and thank you. ;o)

…What a quick and healthy alternative when you’re in a rush. Or not. Thank you for sharing!

    …Blessings :o)
