This is my undo smoothie. This is my redo smoothie.
This is my no you can’t add bourbon to that smoothie.
This is my ooooh geeez, I can’t eat any more brioche smoothie.
This is my whats wrong with you!? stop thinking about pie and waffles!!! smoothie.
It can’t all be pink doughnuts and pickle fries.
Think smoothie. It really is a relief.
Let’s go through what we need for smoothies: almond milk, fresh spinach, ripe banana, creamy honey, and amazing grass green powder.
Let’s go through what we don’t need for smoothies: pie, french fries, chocolate chunks, vodka, sprinkles, cream cheese, and cheeseburgers.
Follow the lists. Don’t mix up the list. Delicious, but unwise.
Is it possible for a smoothie full of green things to taste good? Of course it is! Greens are transformed in the blender!
Remember this Cucumber Strawberry smoothie? Sweet and divine. Kale aaaand Spinach in a smoothie, just add pear.
Greens in smoothies are a great way to jump start the health during a day. Greens on the inside before doughnuts and chocolate go on the inside. It’s my general rule of thumb.

Gonna try this while at my sons on vacation. My blender blew up, so will use theirs. Will buy one when I get home. Wish I knew what kind it is that they use on TV that you put the orange in and out comes juice. WANT ONE OF THOSE. emae

I am SHOCKED by how delicious is, considering that I have an abhorrence for spinach…but you don’t taste it at all! So good! I’m thinking something acidic would also be good in this, like a squeeze of lemon. But this is definitely yummy as is, thanks Joy!

Hi Joy,
Avocado Spring Shake
I’ve been reading and enjoying your blog for a while now, and plan to buy your book. I just came across your recipe for Avocado Pound Cake and FLIPPED! I’ll be making it this week. I also read that you had a failed avocado milkshake recipe. Please try this Spring Shake from the Great American Health Bar https://www.greatamericantogo.com on 57th Street in NYC. The recipe goes something like this:
Spring Shake
Place in blender:
1/2 ripe avocado
2 generous scoops of frozen yogurt (more if you like – to taste)
Good squeeze of honey (don’t omit or substitute this – it’s critical to the flavor. I have a squeezy bottle for my honey, you can put in a couple of large tablespoons if you have a regular bottle)
Enough milk to thin to desired consistency
Whir, pour, sit, drink, thrill to the flavor and color!
We LOVE this shake and make it often. I think you will too. And if you’re in the neighborhood on your tour, stop in and have one at the counter. Now that I live in Santa Fe, NM, I miss going there for a quickie!

Ok, so I love your blog! Like, love it, love it. And when I read this recipe I had to try it. Right down to the amazing grass green powder, which I found at a local health store. I have since had this smoothie for breakfast for the last 6 days. Sometimes I throw in a few strawberries for kicks. Thanks so much for this recipe, for your inspiring food blogs that help this girl get out of her food ruts and for just being so darn fun to read!

My love for questionably healthy food might keep me from trying this one but it looks so beautiful that I’m almost convinced to try it out.
Do check my blog https://theonewiththefryingpan.blogspot.se/
I’m just starting out but I will have lots of good things there pretty soon. :)

I love green smoothies! And I’m so not a health nut.
Melissa – you can sub any fruit for the banana. Mango, pineapple, peach etc. I buy a variety of bags of frozen fruit at Trader Joes.
