Hello friends and Happy Sunday!
I hope you’re entering the end of January feeling happy and productive, still in your January intentions and resolutions. These days feel filled with challenges and beauty, sunshine and chill.
I don’t even know how I’m feeling this week? That’s got to be ok to say… sometimes just the day to day is enough feeling. Right?
Here’s some of the superficial Internet. I didn’t make it, I just listed it for you.
• I distinctly remember saving up my paycheck from my ice cream scooping job in high school so I could buy myself an outfit to wear after prom from Abercrombie and Fitch. I bought a pair of forest green parachute pants with orange details and a navy linen kinda boho embroidered shirt. I dunno. It was the Abercrombie & Fitch hay-day. We all went nuts for that mess, remember? Well… their CEO is now 70 years old. So there’s that: The Aging of Abercrombie & Fitch

You don’t need a Bracelet Assistant, you can accomplish the same thing by using a roach clip on a stick!

Nice links, girl!! Hope you’re not reading this because you’re living your life instead of reading comments. :-)

All those SkyMall items were always so innovative and interesting.

Once when I was in college in Philadelphia a young kid passed by my group of 4 females downtown. He paused, looked at us and said, “excuse me ladies, you all look very pretty today” – then he biked away. I was both shocked and impressed.

Love.

Pretty sure I had the same pair of pants. The only thing I’ve ever purchased from A&F and that was only because I had a gift certificate. But they were amazing pants!

Oh the Abercrombie & Fitch days… the thing I’ll never be able to get over is how it’s still such a “thing” in Europe. It makes me giggle every time I see someone wearing it here. They could be aged 10-40. True story.

Love the article on the 12 women – great stuff!

Also Hazel Scott, whose general badassery included a scholarship to Juilliard at age 8 and the ability to play two pianos better than I can play one..

A&F story is disturbing. The chocolate frosting looks so yummy. Will use on my next cake!! We will be hit with a snowstorm starting tomorrow so I know I will be baking.

LOVE all of those women. God, Buzzfeed is so on top of things.

Love a Lady that can do a better job of it than a man. Most of us, Right !! ;)

I saw American Sniper with my family. I think it was good to go with a group because I believe it’s important to be able to appreciate the movie and the characters but to have an open critical conversation about it as well. I also saw Foxcatcher last night, which is such a contrast. It’s a very uncomfortable movie, but it’s very interesting. Great links!

One of my favorite things to do on a plane is look at that SkyMall mag. So sad.
That mounted squirrel head is disturbing, just as much as those thousand dollar half zombie statues crawling out of the ground. Has anyone ever bought one?
Happy Sunday, Joy!

Also as a Louisianian living in Minnesota, your picture is making me feel warm, so thanks for that.

I found that Abercrombie article totally fascinating but also completely disturbing. I was ALL about A&F in high school and I can’t believe I was so blind to their marketing. Is some brand that I love still tricking me like that? Or am I smarter now? On the flip side, that kind of evil psychological brilliance is exactly what attracted me to advertising in college. SO MANY THOUGHTS. Also the photos with the article are brilliant.

Love the list of 12 women. To celebrate their lives, I believe I will give no F’s today. And I bet you looked superfly after the prom!!
