mmm. mmm. mmmmmm.
There were a lot… and I mean aaaaaa loooooot of steps between this bowl of batter and decorating this wedding cake onsite, ten minutes before the ceremony.
I want to tell you about all those steps. The dowels, the driving, how I tried to turn the inside of my car into a refrigerator, the stacking, the piping… all of it.
First though… I have to go buy my Dad lunch for Father’s Day. Then… I think there’s an episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey that I have to um… not go watch. I’m sure you understand.

What a great way to show your friends that you love them. Great job!
Cake looks awesome…you can really see you put a lot of work into it. i think they are going to LOVE IT!!!
Your cake looks great! I would be so sweating like a pig trying to decorate right before the big event. You pulled it off with such class.
I hope you got your taco and tequilla!!!
Thank you so much for sharing.
I want to hear all about the “putting the cake together” process! I want to hear about turning your car into a fridge! don’t leave us hanging!
Hey Joy! Your cake looks fantastic! Show us more pictures please!!! yum yum
It looks AMAZING! Nice nice work! And PS – I have to go “not watch” Housewives of NJ, too. Mostly because I’m sad that Dina is gone. xxSAS
Cake looks great! My question is how do you cut your dowel rods to be even and flat…that is the hardest part for me!
The cake looks great. I hope it is appreciated.
Yes, absolutely! :) You deserve it – that stuff is not easy to do! The cake is beautiful, Joy, it really is, and now that you’re done it wouldn’t hurt at all to not go watch some Real Housewives for a while… isn’t that right? ;) I would too.
hello there :)
stumble upon your blog! lovely blog you have here. Found you on foodbuzz :) Will be dropping by more often! Feel free to save me on your blogroll :) Happy summer!
Jen
Looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see more pictures. And congrats on getting through the whole process successfully! :)
Cake decorating is totally not easy! Give us some tips!
It looks great! So what did you do for your Dad?
My dearest Joy… I thought about you, and was dying to check in on the wedding cake all day Friday, but I was preoccupied making a cake for my inlaws suprises 40th anniversary! You did a fabulous job, and I was trying to channel your wonderful skills as I made my cake. I hope the happy couple loved your cake!
beautiful! how do you get your buttercream so smooth? for me, that’s the most challenging part…
…i just watched like, 4 episodes of RHONY back to back so, yeah, totally understand.
Aw, the cake is so cute. It looks like you used buttercream? Super pretty! I really hate fondant on wedding cakes, especially how you can peel it off. Gross city.
The cake looks great.
I hope all your hard work was appreciated.
The cake perfectly matches their invites and theme–good job! I can’t wait to see the completely finished product and see everything you did. Wedding cakes stress me out too–I’m doing one for July 3 and I’m going out of town today for the week so I’m a little time-deficient. I have to tell you, I haven’t been to your blog in quite a while b/c I mainly check those that I subscribe to by email. You can imagine how excited I was to see you now have an email subscribe service! Baking is my passion and I’ve always loved your blog…the few times I’ve remembered to check it. :)
Awesome. Can’t wait to hear all about it. What flavor is it? MmmMmmMmmMmmmMmm.
You are a ROCK star!! I can’t wait to see the rest.
So, did you like the most recent Housewives? I’m addicted. Such crazy behavior – it’s hard to pull my eyes away from it. Like a moth to light.
I hate that I’ve gone all this lifetime without decorating one cake. Well, I mean succesfully anyway.
What colour did you use to get the icing that beautiful teal green? I love it!
Can’t wait to see the finished product. Gotta love wedding cake.
Yr frosting work is beautiful. Simple, elegant, and sweet.
I love it.
I can’t wait to hear all the details! From what I see so far – it is beautiful!
I’ve been following your wedding cake progress. Bravo!!!!
the cake looks gorgeous! great job!
Lovely..can’t wait to see the whole picture..Thanks
All the work worth it. I love it!!! So fresh and cute.. CONGRATS. I’ve never made a wedding cake and I’m afraid the day someone ask me my first one. I’ll start to shiver and I don’t know when I’ll stop.
Best regards.
Such a lovely cake indeed, can’t wait to read the final wedding post.
Really, do lots of people bake their own wedding cake? This came to me as a huge surprise, nobody would ever do it here in Italy, this shows we are too lazy I think.

Can’t wait to read your story!!
I love the initials (I’m guessing it’s their initials) on the heart of the bride and groom, nice touch:)
Can’t wait!
Enjoy your free time… ummm… I should watch some tv too. I hate papers. Too much time, not enough baking.
Also, the cake BEATIFUL.
Wow you are amazing! Can’t wait to see it finally done!!:)
Looks so good. Enjoy some TV time. Oh, I love those yellow bowls. Have the same ones and they are great! Rest up!
Aww, looking cute! I totally completely understand the procrastination on wedding cakes. It’s SO time consuming, but what an accomplishment when you’re done. Kudos to you!
Nice!!! I love the theme! Very romantic!
Wow, this looks great!! I love homemade wedding cakes. Im an wedding planner/coordinator on the side and see many many cake. This looks great!!

Looks great, Joy! Can’t wait to hear the whole story, but I SO understand about needing a break! I just finished baking and delivering 200 wedding cupcakes this weekend and was rooting you on while baking in my own kitchen! I KNOW the folks at the wedding must have LOVED your cake…I’m sure it was fabulously delicious!
Looks fabulous!
Joy I’m excited! I can’t wait until you’re finished; btw, the picture looks amazing I know that’s not easy to do

Looks great, I love it when wedding cakes look like… cake. And as Stephanie said, I bet it actually tasted good too!
Am busting to see the process, but take some time to recover
You deserve a break – watch all the trashy TV you want! Having said that I can’t wait to read the rest of the story.
That cake is so stinkin’ cute. Coming from you, it must be the most delightful wedding cake to ever pass those guests’ lips. (Because we’ve all had our fair share of wedding cake that tastes like…well, poo.) So excited for the final installment of wedding cake extravaganza 2010!!
Great job! It looks lovely. I especially think it goes perfectly with the topper. Round of applause from The Nerd.
P.S. Starting tomorrow, I’m going to have a photo contest on my blog…and the winner gets a prize! Anyway, I want you to enter, because I love when you take pictures of food…and stuff. Yeah. That is all.
Can’t wait to see more photos of the beautiful green icing color.
That cake looks amazing! I can’t wait to hear all about it, nice job!

Sounds kind of stressful, but it’s looking gorgeous! Can’t wait to see photos of the cake in its final glory!
Haha! Well that picture looks like it came out amazing, and no one can fault you for spending time with your dad. And, er, NOT watching the Real Housewives of NJ. Ugh. Who even watches silly shows like that?
(Me… right here. Totally addicted. In fact, about to go watch Part III of NY’s circus, I mean ‘reunion’, that I DVRed.)
Hey, who said that?
;)
Wow, it’s going to look awesome!
Cheers,
Rosa
Thanks for sharing each step!

It looks fabulous! I can’t wait to see pictures of it completely done. Great job! Very daring to decorate it at the last minute.
