  1. Hi Joy,

I just started reading your blog recently and am loving it. Thank you so much for putting together this list. We just got over a foot of snow if New York, and I can’t think of a better way to spend a lazy snow day. My friend Joanna and I just started a blog of our own and would love it if you checked it out.

    thanks!

  2. So, we (my girlfriend and I) don’t know nothing about blogging yet, but we love food and drink and fun and all that other good stuff, so we decided to take some photos and finally write down all those recipes that “go to waste” but actually end up in our bellies and make our friends like us and try and stay over so they can get in on breakfast too, and also bring us free vino cause we feed them so good. So yeah, we like your blog and your eats and your Obama cookies and pissing off your dad. And tarts too, definitely tarts…

  3. Hi Joy,
I love your blog and have been a long time reader..
Time for some shameless self promotion. I have a little blog of my own that I’ve just started and would be smitten if you would check it out.

  4. if you have more time to kill, visit my brand new blog! i’m in desperate need of some good-humoured visitors, i’m the biggest newbie – and you all still know how it feels to start off, dont you?! i need all the advice i can get so get your clicking fingers over to my site and have a look around! much appreciated!!!

  5. Oh boy… just spent my entire morning reading the story on Ree’s site about how her and her husband met. Then I realized it was already 11, I hadn’t eaten breakfast, and now only had 2 hours to get a whole mornings worth of work done! Then I sat there deciding if I should get to work or finish reading it xD It never ceases to amaze me how fast time flies when you’re in a good read! Thanks for the suggestions even if they’ll get me a little behind in my work, lol.

  6. joy, thank you so much for publishing these. I had “sprouted kitchen” bookmarked until my laptop broke down and took all my bookmarks with him to computer heaven. I couldn’t remember all the blogs I had bookmarked, but was thinking about the one with these great pics. Fearing, it’d be lost forever. now you just present these links and I can finally reunite with sprouted kitchen.
    Thanks again!

  7. Hey Joy, thanks for the list! If you’re looking for new blogs, stop by mine sometime. The hardest part for me is taking good pictures. Ever think about putting up some food photography advice – that’d be great!

  8. Oh! Not sure what you look for when you’re perusing the web,I’ve just started a blog too and I’d love you to check mine it out even if it doesn’t make ‘THE LIST’ :)

  9. thank you so much for more foodie blog suggestions! i’m always interested in doing more reading (and cooking, and eating…) but have a hard time finding good ones. all of these are perfect! thank you, thank you, thank you!!

  10. Like the sampling, sticking with Joy. My motto for the latter half of 2009 was “Choose Joy”, (BEFORE I found your blog!!.) So I can waste time on the web AND fulfil my goals. You are the rockin’ awesome number one slice of fun blog!! (and loved the eggnog pancakes, by the by!!)

  11. Joy, I am honoured to be part of these links!! :)
I simply cannot thank you enough…and thanks to all of your amazing readers who swung by for a visit on my first day!

I have a lot to live up to with your seriously awesome blog, but I’ll try my best.

    Melanie…and Jamie.*LOL*

  12. That’s just great. Now I’ll get no work done at all! These blogs are wonderful and it’s already been hard to pretend I’m working when I’m really stalking a dozen blogs, yours one of them, of course. Thank you for sharing, I didn’t know about some of these :D

  13. Hi Joy! I stumbled upon your blog and I love it! Have you been to “smittenkitchen.com”? She has some amazing recipes.

  14. You totally read my mind! I love reading your blog daily and today happens to be one of those days where I’d rather read blogs than do what I “should” be doing. Thank you for sharing these wonderful sites. I have already bookmarked them and am sooo diving into them AFTER I read you, PW, and Bakerella of course. :)

  15. Awesome links – always good to support other food bloggers make it on this crazy vast internet. If you’re taking seconds, check out my blog, southtransplant.wordpress.com. Keep up the good work!

  16. You will always be my first and favorite food blog, however there are a couple new ones that I will now read regularly. And FYI – I think your pictures are just as beautiful as Sprouted Kitchen!

  17. Waist away one hour. I wasted a good part of my afternoon away as my kids napped. Good stuff in these blogs. But the problem is you find a blog you like then you go check out their blogs that they follow and before you know it the afternoon is gone and its time to think about what to make for supper. Oh supper yeah I forgot that part. Opps! LOL

  18. Love these links! It’s always so inspiring to look at new blogs!

And I’m going to go the shameful route of plugging my own blog – it’s a lot of sugar and a lot of butter, so I feel like it would be right up your alley :)

  19. Hi Joy! I visit a few of these blogs, but thanks for introducing me to a bunch of new ones! :)

  20. Hi Joy! I love your blog, and everyone needs an hour vacation in the middle of the workday – especially on a Thursday! Thanks for all the great new additions to my procrastination headquarters I like to call Google reader! :)

If you do a part 2 next month, I would love for you to check out my blog: it’s very new, and I’m still playing with it, and trying to get it just right, not to mention learning the photography world (my husband just bought me a book for my b-day yesterday and can’t wait to delve into it), but I’m super excited about it, and really needed to find a way to do something that I’m actually good at (cooking) and have a creative outlet (the blog). Come check me out if you get a chance. http://www.thecookingvent.blogspot.com! Thanks for all the wonderful posts!

  21. Check out my blog! I’m a student at the University of Michigan and read yours religiously. I blog for the school newspaper website, The Michigan Daily. I’m new, but would love it if you check it out. It’s a shared page, but my posts have my byline (Jordan Kristopik)!

  22. I’ve given you a Twitter thanks, now i’m giving you a Joy The Baker thanks! I’m beyond flattered and humbled to have my blog on your wonderul site read by all your amazing readers!

My birthday is next Friday and I already feel like I’ve received the best gift possible! Thanks again Joy!

P.S. I know there are a lot of “!”, but they are all needed!

  23. Oh Joy, you kill me! I don’t think my google reader can hold any more food blogs. She’s gonna blow!

But really, thanks for the links. Word of mouth is how you hear about the best blogs, right? I did a similar thing on my food blog a few weeks ago. Thanks!

  24. Thanks for sharing! I’m always searching for new food blogs, and having started one myself in the last year, they are a great source of insipiration.

  25. Joy,
My niece (a foodie residing in NY and married to a NY firefighter) also has a wonderful food blog site. It’s called thebusyhedonist.com

Check it out and tell her her Auntie Peggy says Hi…

  26. what does “new” mean? I still feel new, and haven’t hit the 1 year mark yet. but sometimes i feel “old” too! ha ha.

Either way, love the list – i’ve checked out a few of these, and I love giving the newer, less “popular” blogs some reads. not that i don’t love the “regulars”, but i like variety in my life :)

  27. Joy, thanks so much for including me on your blog today! You inspire me every day–love your writing, recipes, photos and so glad that you found our site (what started as a food blog evolved into a food and music blog last year, and we’re not turning back :)).

  28. So funny! I was just updating my own list of links today. There are so many fantastic (and beautiful! So beautiful!) food blogs out there. Thanks for the suggestions.

  29. Oh Joy!! You’re killin’ me here! Between my “regular” foodie blogs, Facebook, and Maffia Wars – I’m pretty sure you added at LEAST another hour to my browse time int he morning!! (grin) Thanks!

  30. awesome list there! i don’t think my google reader can handle any more blogs (or perhaps, its just my OCD that insists that i read every post that pops up…)

  31. Thanks Joy!

There are so many maginificent things hiding out there on the internet that without direction I would likely never stumble across!!!!

  32. I’m so glad you posted these! I’ve only heard of a few. Of course I check the main ones you listed every day (Ree, smitten kitchen, etc), but you are on that list too! I love coming here. you’re so bright and uplifting and you pictures are seriously amazing. you provide me with inspriation for my humble blog beginnings :)

  33. Hi, my name is Pam… and I’m a food blog addict.

Seriously, thanks for the heads up on some awesome sites! Maybe one day I’ll have the guts to have one of my own.. but for now I lurk :D

For your part 2, may I suggest Tastespotting & Foodgawker. If I only have 5 mins of internet a day, that’s where I’m headed 1st. It’s got everyone under the sun all in one place.

I can’t wait to see all the deliciousness in the new year!!

  34. Thank you so much for sharing some new food blogs! I also love the sites you mentioned as your daily favorites, but it’s always fun to find new sites too. And as a relativeley new food blogger myself, I know we all need some love!

  35. Hi Joy. Thanks so much for sharing these great blogs. Your blog is terrific and I love making your recipes. I hope you’ll check out our blog also. My sisters and I are new to this blogging thing, so its nice to have a blog like yours for inspiration.

  36. Thanks so much Joy! I love finding new blogs and it is so nice of you to tell us about them! I love your taffy photo too – there is just something about Taffy that makes me smile :)

  37. Being relatively new to the blogging arena, there does seem to be a small group of powerhouses out there who are on everyone’s “must read” list. A big thanks from a newbie for spreading the word about folks not in that group. I am certain I am not alone in the appreciation and warm feelings. I look forward to checking these out as well as part two!

  38. I’m always inspired by people creative enough to blog AND cook/bake. It doesn’t seem right to be so gifted. :) Joy, you’re the bomb diggity. I’ll be sure to check these blogs if they have your seal of approval!

  39. I read someplace that there are almost 40,000 food blogs! Holy cow, that’s a lot to sift through – love that you highlighted a few. They are SO lucky to be in such amazing company and come recommended by you. Will head on over and check them out!

  40. I love it when other bloggers point out their favorite blogs—helps to spread the goodwill around a bit—so thanks. (I’m totally impressed with and inspired by Vanilla and Lace’s photos.)

  41. thanks for the new links & i am excited to explore…so very generous of you…
joy the baker, ree & deb are my “everyday” reads!

  42. For the record, I really did mean to be off the computer 20 minutes ago so that I could actually leave for work on time. Seriously, I have a 55min commute ahead of me (thank you, DC traffic) that only gets worse when I get stuck in the local high school dropping-off-the-kids-because-they-can’t-take-the-bus-for-some-unknown-reason traffic. Instead, I’ve spent the last 20 minutes cruising around some really awesome blogs that I really should have discovered sooner (wine! cookies!!). So I’d like to say “Thanks!” for introducing me to some of my new favorite bloggers – but really, did you have to post this before I left for work?? ;)

    1. same here … I gotta get going and they cut off the internet at work. I do have tomorrow off and am thinking I’ll be getting a lot less done than I was planning.

      Thanks Joy !!

  43. OMG, I wish you posted this sooner. My boss is coming back from holiday on Sunday and I have no time to go through all these blogs now. :(

I have to say, Sprouted Kitchen’s photography is just to die for. And the recipes? OMGyum!

What does your kitchen look like? Can’t remember if I’ve seen a post about it. I only started reading your blog in October.

  44. I sooo want to check these out(at least most of them).sweet of you to share… but I’m a little worried …I already wasted most of my day off on wed. Hmmm….

  45. I think I’ve only heard of two of these. Thanks so much for the links. I love that food bloggers like you direct their readers to other sites, too. It makes me happy. I hope your year is off to a glorious start, Joy!

    1. Thank you so much Dani! You are always so so kind! I got your email! Thank you! I look forward to your new blog! Best of luck getting that going! You can totally rock it!
