Let It Be Sunday, 132!

Hello my friends! 

Welcome to what we hope to make a fine day in the world.  Let’s be kind to one another, remembering that we’re all beating hearts and soaring souls in the world seeking love and safety.  Good grief.  If someone near you has forget these basic fundamentals, remind them with care.  Again… good grief.  

Here are some of the events of the week, everything but the hot-heads with the codes to nuclear warheads here and there:

•  You may know that this summer I’ve been obsessed (it’s the right word) with making paper flowers.  I’m working on a tutorial but I’m also just trying to teach myself how to do this sooooo, here are some really lovely poppies out of tissue paper if you wanted to get started with me.

 I wrote a pasta cookbook and it totally messed with my body image.  Words and thoughts from our friend Colu Henry whose pasta in divine and honesty, strong.  

 This is the pasta I made from Colu’s book and I would say that it would also be dead-delicious over a bowl of zucchini noodles: Creamed Spinach Pasta with Sausage and Pine Nuts

  2. That pasta is delicious! My husband made it back in March when the recipe was first published and our kids (ages 8, 9, and 11) ask for it often. It’s become a regular in our recipe rotation.

    1. I just read that article now while catching up on Joy’s posts from the last couple of months. It’s actually mentioned on the page featuring The Daily.
      A great article that basically described everything I’ve been through since my first diet at 14, anyone who’s been overweight will appreciate the insight and lucidity with which the article is written.

  3. I luv, Luv, Luv, – your Sunday emails that I get. In my summers, I get to read emails. I feel that Sundays are my day off. I bake a lot of quick bread which I sell at a flea market October through mid-May. It’s to hot to sell outside in the summer here in Florida. I have found that I often can take the butter and divide it into half butter and half cream cheese for wonderful results. This recipe is very nice. Tried it an my husband ate most of it – I only got one slice.

  4. I really empathize with the piece on pasta and body image. I gained 20 lbs this year due to medication, and another 10 lbs due to being more sedentary. I’m 30 lbs up, and even trained for and ran a half a marathon without losing weight or getting any fitter. I went vegetarian and started counting calories, and felt miserable and deprived every day. This week I gave up and decided I would keep up some sensible and positive habits, like snacking less at night, cutting back on alcohol, and lifting weights a few times a week, but I was done trying to change my body. I’m going to appreciate the way I look now, because in 20 years I will surely look back and envy the figure I have now.

  5. I logged into my email wondering what Let it be Sunday would look like THIS morning, given the state of the world. I am so grateful that even with what’s going on you still manage to bring heart, head and home (a great looking pasta dish) to your readers on a day when things look bleak and we might otherwise want to crawl back under the covers. Thanks for keeping my moscow mule cup half full :)
