Yesterday was one of those days.
Yesterday was one of those days where important things break, other things fall apart, and you’re compelled to self soothe with tuna melts, french fries and beer… and a prayer or two… or three, or four.
The day started off with such promise. I decided to take in the sweltering Los Angeles afternoon while reading these two new cookbooks….
I was also going to write a little something to you. Here on this blog. Using the very computer this little blog was born on.
I love this computer. I also love to make lists on note pads with hearts… duh.
My computer had other ideas.
Maybe this had something to do with the fact that I accidentally knocked my computer off my couch armrest and onto the concrete floor. Maaaaaybe that had something to do with the above panic sign. Probably. Dangit. My bad.
Super frustrated with myself, I took an angry nap. I woke up with a headache. Not awesome.
I tried to get over myself. Nobody likes a brat.
I sat on the edge of my bed, closed my eyes and thanked the good Lord for blessing me with a computer that allowed me to connect with all of you silly people and to create a freakin’ career for myself. I owed the man some serious thanks. It made me feel better.
Then…
… my coffee table fell apart.
No joke. Just totally collapsed.
Yes- I have a crap-ton of stuff on my coffee table.
Yes- among that crap-ton of stuff is a giant whisk… on my coffee table. Yea.
I didn’t scream. I wasn’t upset. I’m not sure I was even surprised. I just picked up my camera, took a few pictures and then cleaned up the mess.
This time my prayer for the good Lord was to thank him for sparing my grandmother’s milk glass cake stand from breaking. And I ended the prayer with… Really? I mean… reeeaallly!? Geeez!
Know what turns the tide?
Tuna melts. French fries. Beer… and realizing that your tiny glass spoon was also spared in the coffee table wreckage. Also very important: friends with extra computers. Thank you.
Today is better. Today is muuuuch better.
alicia pilotta
Im sorry for the loss of your black lab buddy. I have a black lab Bella and right now my life is terrible and if it wasnt for her I would be lost!!
Gayle
Oh good grief I think I would have just got back under the covers and not come until the nightmare was changed!
Good that you were grateful God likes that :)
morgana
Thank God you didn’t get hurt. :-))) When I have “one of those days” I always end up with a little bruise or a little cut somewhere in my body. In my family we call it “to have a destroyer day”. Well, we really say “tengo un día destroyer” because we talk in spanish and maybe the sentence is not so funny for you but for us is like if we wake up that day as Arnold Schwarzenegger in “Terminator” spreading CHAOS all around us. We just can pray and go to bed early for a “RESET” hoping next day is a normal day.
;-)
Nastassia Johnson
it feels like that is my day everyday…glad you made it through with a spoon , a cake stand, and some beer! :)
Katie
Sounds like a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day! Hope all your tomorrows are better :)
Keirelle
I had a horrible day too. My dog died. The wonderful, smart, perfect practically human black lab named buddy we have had since I was in 10th grade. He liked to drink coffee on saturday mornings. He also liked to steal nearly empty beer bottles on Friday nights. Obviously I moved from home, so technically he is (was? sigh.) my parents dog, but whenever I got home about once a year for the summer, he would slobber all over me and hang out in the doorway of my bedroom and sit on me and just be awesome.
The worst part? I am going to be back home in two weeks. I was so excited to see Bud. And now I won’t ever get to again.
You know what else sucks? No one ever understands that for some people, losing a dog is equal the how you’d feel if you lost a family member. I am sorry. I am using your blog to make myself feel better. It’s kinda helping. I am glad things got better for you though. :)
Cg
Keirelle, if it helps at all, I know the feeling. My family dog died 2 summers ago and it was heartbreaking. Hang in there. Dogs ARE family members. He sounds like he was a great dog. I just went and hugged my dog Hobbes and told him how much I love him. Hope you feel better….
Cathy
I am so very sorry for your loss. I love my animals like my own babies, and can only imagine the hurt you’re feeling. I know your visit home will be bittersweet, but remember how much he loved and was loved, and just let yourself feel what you need to feel. Hugs to you and your family.
Courtney
Someone else knocked my computer off a desk at school during my last semester. It still doesn’t work properly or for very long. I do feel for you. Also, I have those same coffee mugs pictured along with the heart note pad. Love those mugs!
Hillary
Oh man, I think we all have those days….the ones where it just won’t stop coming.
Just the other weekend, I was on my way to volunteer for the very first time at the farmer’s market (!) excited as could be. Until I parked my car. Then the door swung open (parked facing downhill) and slammed against a pole, putting a dent in my door. Then I proceeded to spill my cup of coffee all over the driver’s side floor. Then got glass stuck in my sandal. Then some crazy guy decided to yell at me for no reason. Then I got sunburned. Oy! I feel your pain!
But tuna melts, french fries and beer, mmmm, much better.
Orit
Oh dear me!
This reminds me of that dreaded Friday morning a couple of months ago when I was downloading pics from my camera to my computer while having my breakfast. I placed the plate and my beautiful Otogico coffee mug on the edge of the desk. Nothing should have happened to it. BUt then the phone rang and I was startled and jumped and hit the plate with my hand and it split in two and half hit the mug which fell on to the floor smashing into pieces and in the middle of it all my camera fell from my lap and the lense broke.
But at least I already finished my coffee! So there was less to clean. I guess. That was a totally crappy weekend. I ordered in Chinese food that night to calm me down.
jaclyn@todayslady
Oh Joy, I feel like only this sort of day would happen to you…. probably because you can turn it around and make everyone reading about it smile :) Not because of the broken computer or the table, those things are pretty crappy, but because the way you write about it is sooooo entertaining!! You are awesome!!
Cookie
computer lessons learned……ALWAYS back everything up, and ALWAYS buy the extended warranty on your MAC.
My husband’s financial life depends on his MAC working EVERY day. Because of our extended warranty, and this was after a couple of years, the MAC store replaced his ailing MAC free of any charges. He walked away from the MAC store with a new computer because of their policy that if they have to fix the same issue more than three times during the life of the warranty they will replace the computer. In the last year, they had repaired the same issue twice and it was about to be three times. Thank God for the extended warranty and the MAC store’s proffessionalism!!! Now he has a brand new computer, and we can keep making money!
I hope your MAC woes are remedied soon. I love reading your blog!
Esther
So sorry to hear about your computer and your coffee table. Hopefully the rest of the week goes better~
Glad to hear some things made it out of the wreckage okay.
Christi
oh wow! {{{hugs!}}}
We all have days like that don’t we? That’s the cutest little glass spoon by the way!
jason
I’m sory to hear about your computer and the table. I hope you have a better week.
One question. How do you have a book that has not come out yet? The New York Times book is not due out until October. Also, would you ever think about reviewing books that you own? I love to see what others think about books. It can be really helpful at times.
Elizabeth @ Dapper Paper
that TOTALLY happened to me one day with my mac and it was my hard-drive that went caPOOOt. But, you can purchase something called Disk Warrior that most likely (it’s not 100% guaranteed) will retrieve your files, etc…
I have days like that too! and I act like a brat but know I have So much to be thankful for, no matter how clumsy or annoyed I am.
Glad today is better!
Ellen
Listen carefully to my motto: “Choose JOY!!” You don’t have to go far to achieve this, just go look in the mirror!! Love you, person that I don’t know!!
joythebaker
You’re a good person in this world. I can tell. Thank you.
bridge
Here’s hoping to a sunny day for you. One with sweets and perhaps unexpected smiles. :)
Wei-Wei
Well at least you’re being optimistic! I hope your tech issues get solved soon. I hate computer problems :(
Kat
If your MacBook is the 1st gen Intel processor (only from the first year of release), take it into the store. That generation has a known hard drive fault, and there’s an extended repair contract for them. Totally free.
Evan B
I’m not going to lie, I gave a little sad laugh when I saw the picture of your coffee table- mostly because I know exactly how that feels! Last night I went to work, whipped up a delicious batch of red velvet cupcakes only to realize I forgot to add the eggs..fail.
The Nerd
I had one of those days this week too, but you already know about that. Wanna know what made me feel better? Beer. No Fries. No tuna melts. Just beer. I told the waitress to keep ’em coming and she kept her end of the deal. Bless her. And bless you for finding a friend’s computer. Amen.
Silvia
The only good thing about such days is that they eventually end and then even the most boring day seems just perfect…
I would be lost too without my Mac, how is it going now?
XXX
joythebaker
You all are just as sweet as can be! Thanks so much for your kindness. I’m glad you’re around!
Jennifer McLean
Here’s hoping the computer fairy helps you get all the stuff off your old and well loved mac so you can love another, newer mac. Keep up the good work of thankfulness, good girl. :o) And hey, it’s not all bad… a new tech toy. Yippee!!
Best,
Jenn
BookBaker
Hey Joy,In my books, I think one can’t really appreciate the great days we have unless a bad day or two weren’t thrown in the middle.. :) Hope you’re having a great day today! :D
Elizabeth
oh man!!
well in all things give thanks @_@ hope you will have better days ahead!
Millie
Oh, Joy! I’m sorry! I hope it gets better for you! I agree – those days seriously suck! I too have ended prayers like you have. A good beer is a good end to a bad day, though. And cookies. =)
*HUG* from Alaska!
fierdous
today will be a much much better day!!!
biiiiiiiiiiiiiggggg Hugs and kisses!!!!!!
Jocelyn
Aww. I wish I could run over and give you a hug. Or maybe fire up another batch of tuna melts and french fries for you.
You’re Joy – you’re superwoman. You can do anything. Yes, even go past this tragedy. Hope you get the laptop to work soon.
Shannon @ bakeandbloom.com
Coming from someone who has been shat on by probably 30 birds, ripped wide open a skirt during a job interview, been bitten by a seagull (yes I have a bad time with birda), cut myself on a peice of pasta & required stitches, fallen out of 2 moving cars ect ect ect (I am seriously considering writing a dark sitcom about my life entitled “lucky me”) I can seriously relate to having a bad unlucky day. This too shall pass <3
Pat
Days like you had require a few Prayers; at the least they saved your Grandmother’s cake stand. …and your little glass spoon. Sad for your computer; I would be devastated if mine went away with all your recipes. I think i will do a backup….right now. Thanks for the wakeup.
Megan Gordon
Oh shit. I’m so sorry, Joy. Why do those things have to compound upon one another? When I first saw the picture of your mac, I gasped because I remember that little question mark folder well. Damn. Hate that! It’s like a bad stomach-sinking realization that (if you’re me anyway) you should’ve done like your smart friends and backed up your files…
But I hope it got better. I’m sure it did. Is In the Sweet Kitchen good? It’s on my Amazon list and I’m coming close to just buying it…worth it?
Happy sort-of-almost-Friday.
becky
Oh, have I had days like this!!!! I hope both are inexpensively fixable. I would have at the very least thrown a massive temper tantrum. I know this because I did throw one when my laptop got struck by lightning on the same day that a tree fell on my car and dented in the top of it. Thankfully I got over myself and can now look back and laugh. :)
carolina
:siiiiiiiiiiigh: sometimes, those days make you not wanna roll outta bed the next morning. it makes you wonder why we can’t get some kind of warning to stay in bed…Sorry you had one of those days. but you’re valuable stuff didn’t break… yay! here’s to better days!
Stacy
days like that are no good!! I just wanted to let you know I think one of my new life missions is to make at least one thing from your blog every week, hopefully more, but I need to start small :). Needless to say, I LOVE all your recipes!!
Alison
Wow, thanks for sharing! I love how you wasn’t even angry and gave thanks instead. Now I’m inspired :).
Meghan
the days where nothing goes your way are never fun! They seem like they are few and far between for you…you’re always so happy and sunny and fun.
Meg
Ok, that’s it. You have made my laugh out loud so many times that I have to comment and say thanks.
Thanks!
The thing that makes days like this bearable is when you have the peace of mind to sigh, take a photo and share the humor of the situation with folks like us. Awesome.
Meg
er, made ME laugh, I mean.
Jayne
Owhhh… that’s just nasty. But yes, the Lord is good and that counts :-) At least your foot wasn’t underneath the table when it collapsed. Then, there would be another… uh… thing broken.
Sorry.. my bad.
Fee
I’m really glad you had a cranky nap in the middle of it all
MagnoliaMom
UGH! I feel your pain. Days like this I just have to tell myself “It could be worse!” :)
Amal
Sorry to hear about things falling apart! Glad to hear that things are looking up!
peachkins
That’s a bad day. I had a bad day yesterday too..we had no electricity for 24 hours…
nancy K.
OH NO!! When I saw the picture with this post my heart sank for you. I have Mac Book just like yours. One day, a few months ago, I turned on the computer and that file folder icon with the large question mark appeared. I had not dropped it or done anything that would cause the meltdown. Having never seen the icon before, I tried a few quick things to make it go away but with no luck so I called my neighbor, who is my personal Apple/tech geek/expert. After about a half an hour, he told be things looked dire and that I should take the computer to the Apple store.
Long story short, I was told the computer was dead…maybe not so dead that my files could be retrieved but after a quick check in the back room, the mac genius broke the news…if I wanted my files it could cost upwards of $2000 with no guarantees.
I was crushed. All my recipe files gone and of course, I had backed nothing up.
The only good news… I was given a brand new hard drive at no charge even though the computer is more than 3 years old.
So, I guess all I can do is wish you luck and hope all your files were backed up!
Mallory
I too have experienced the heartache of computer crashes. Imagine me sitting on my bed, exhausted after typing out pages upon pages of literary babble for the final in my hardest class. With the last stroke my fingers can manage, I hover over “print”–yet before I can muster the energy to click–poof into cyber oblivion it went in a cloud of blue screen. Of course, I proceeded with a girl’s next logical step, to bang on it with all my might. Didn’t help, made it worse actually–go figure!
All this to say, I feel you Joy–and it hurts!
Way to be optimistic and to find reasons to give thanks in the midst of your trials. Totally awesome.
CJ :)
I have the same cake stand from my grandma. :)
I’m sorry everything went badly for you, Joy. I’m glad it’s better today.
Sarah
What is your tiny glass spoon for?
Kaitlin With Honey
I think there must be something in the LA air, because I had the same kind of day yesterday (with admittedly fewer things breaking). I’m so sorry about your computer! I hope today is looking up.
Marcy Burns
Stuff happens. What saves us is that EVERYTHING changes. That includes the bad stuff (and the good stuff). Whatever today is, tomorrow will be different. Considering your day, I’m thinking that tomorrow’s “different” will be better.
Shush-mi
sorry to hear you had such a bad day. I would have been bratty about it, you sound like you just got on with it. hope your computer gets well soon x
Madeleine
I’m not sure if this will make you feel better, but my MacBook – the one I’m typing on right now – has been making the same disturbing question-mark-on-the-file sign for a year and nothing terrible has happened yet (that said, I ended up replacing it, but Question Mark is still going strong as my back-up). That said, I’m sorry you had a rough day….
Noelle Gonzalez
OMG I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!!!! Everything at my job was breaking!! Not to mention we’re up against a huge deadline!!! Holy… Anywho TOTALLY love your site!! You make me laugh when I’m stressed :)
Becky
Aww, what a crazy day! But yes, I’m glad you were able to laugh things off, especially when it got past the point of rediculous-ness. Hope everything turned out ok in the end : )
elana k
in the hispanic world, it is bad luck for tuesday, not friday, to land on the 13th…chalk it up to that.
glad today was better :)
nileta
well, at least you are joking about it and being positive! wishing you (and your computer) all the best!
Patty Tomaskovic
Well….let’s not forget that yesterday’s date was the 13th…..might just have been the way the stars were aligning or sumpthin’…..;)
Jen-
Omg…that is awful. Four weeks ago I drove to work, my car broke down. Yup…not good. I was 2 hours late when my van broke down on the way home…the SAME DAY! Yup…not happy. I was stuck on the busiest street in town with two younguns and the van’s interior was 125 degrees F. I got heat exhaustion and threw up most of the evening. Then I had a couple beers and a pity party. Hehe.
Life throws funky curve balls. The next day, real winner punch back! Good job making your day better. My van is getting fixed today finally. Gonna take a trip in it in August. Take that funky curve balls! :P
Sushi Lover
Awww… Sending big hugs and happy thoughts your way Joy. I hope the mac store is there for you – make sure to bring a batch of some yummy smelling baked goodness for them, and mention that your silly loyal fans NEED your blogs to get through their crazy days :)
*extra love*
Mama Di
Sorry to hear you had “one of those days”. Bummer. :( But on a brighter note… I have made several recipes from your blog over the last month and let me tell you that I always start here for my insperation. Love your witty and whimsical posts. Your recipes are yummy and you make my day. :)
Thanks
Hleure
I am glad everything is going better today. Your optimism is reassuring. I’m sorry about yesterday–hope you didn’t lose too much on your computer.
Abby
Joy!
I am a big fan. That just actually happened to my computer. I took it the Mac genius bar and apparently they call it the “grey screen of death.” Don’t freak out. They’ll replace your operating system and give you a new hard drive. Mine was off warranty and they did all of that for free. I hope they do that with you.
Best of luck,
Abby
Carrie
Glad today is better! I had a tuna melt, fries and beer day yesterday too – except w/tacos.
Keep smiling.
Patricia
ánimo! ánimo! From the other side of the world! From Spain!
sippy
A terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day it was. I’m sorry. I will say that you chronicled it so hysterically tho’ that it gave me a good belly laugh. Thanks for the exercise. :)
Julia
my day starded with noticing that I lost my wallet yesterday with driver license, ID Card and ATM card … so I know that kind of days.
amanda
the coffee table too?! that’s just mean….glad it’s better today!
Pam
Glad today is better and glad it wasn’t the wedding cake that fell apart!
Lisa
OHhh nooo! That sounds like a dreadful today. Just keep in mind that as many bad things can happen in one day, just as many GOOD things can happen in one day, too. so keep your chin up, and that ‘good day’ will come to you.
ps: LOVE the green rug, OMG!!!
lisa
Stacy
Kinda having one of those days myself – we took in our spare computer to see if we could get up and running only to find out it would need a new logic board – a $700 repair..making it not even worth it. Now we are out $45 for the techs to look at it and still out a spare computer. Grr!
Jessica @ Jessiker Bakes
Ahh Joy. I’m glad you turned it around into a post for us :). Creative + today MUST be a better day. I had one of those days yesterday…not the everything breaking, but the “tomorrow MUST be a better day, anything is better than today” day.
Hope your laptop gets fixed!
christine yoo
hey, there’s always pounds of bacon to be thankful for and there is always tomorrow. french fries with melted cheddar and bacon is even better. i am bacon obsessed and i am unashamed of that fact.
E
I feel for ya sister…I had a moment similar when my one year old knocked my Nikon dSLR off a tripod that was at a ridiculously high level at the time. It died a horrible death right there at my feet while I continued to make English muffins. Because I could tell it would never take another picture again.
Thank god for house insurance…
Debbi
ah Joy…welcome to MY world!!! If it’s not one thing, it’s yer brother!!! (my Dad used to say that & it still makes me smile thru the BS!!) Better days are ahead, they always are!!
Meredith
that happened to my husband’s macbook and he got a new hard drive for free – check to see if you qualify: https://www.apple.com/support/macbook/hd/repairextension/
Celia
tomorrow is another day…
Sarah
So I have a problem… And I was wondering if you would have some advice since I have no one else to turn to. My dream and my goal is to become a baker. I love to bake. It makes me happy beyond belief. I don’t want to become a nurse like everyone else is doing, I don’t want to work in an office. I don’t care if I have to sweat in a kitchen if I am doing what I love. That’s fun for me! My heart sings everytime I am in the kitchen! Creating is my passion. I am twenty and I can’t move to be with my husband yet for another year because he is in the military So I am still with my parents. They want me to go to college to have a reliable job and after that then I should go to culinary school. That’s not what I want, but I am scared of what they will say… they have already blown up at me about becoming a baker and wanting to go to culinary school. I am in a real pickle. I have the opportunity to take some classes at the community college here and finish an associates in culinary in the one year I am here. It’s going to be hard, but I love it and I am more than willing to do all the hard work it’s going to take. I am heart broken. I don’t want to hurt my parents, but I want to become who I want to be. Do you have any advice for me? I love your blog by the way! You are an inspiration to me Joy :)
Stephanie
I really feel for you Joy. You push the button on your Mac and expect the smiling icon and instead you get the big “?”. Happened to me once and I swear I couldn’t breathe for a full minute. I hope it’s fixable (mine was and it’s still going strong 8 yrs later). Just remember that your day could’ve been a lot worse (really!). Now go have some ice cream!
Caroline
I definitely know how you feel! I think I’m having one of those days myself, too bad I’m at work and can’t get my hands on any beer, but I definitely will have a plate of french fries by the end of the day!
Rachel @ Working Out Wellness
Geez! Hopefully you got all of your bad luck out for awhile. At least nothing terrible happened. A computer and a coffee table can be replaced. It’s an inconvenience, but it’s not as bad as it could be.
melanie
joythebaker, i heart you. i hope that your day is going better. i know you make my days better by posting the insanely good recipes that you share with us. :)
Crystal
Yesterday, I had to ask a delivery driver to move his truck off the disabled access ramp so I could enter my office building (I’m walking with a cane due to a knee injury and can’t walk up stairs. This is after I had to park in the absolute farthest spot from my office in the lot. THREE HOURS later, a coworker told me my shirt was on inside out. Then I realized I’d forgotten my lunch. Oh, I so feel you… I really do. I had pie for lunch. It made everything better.
David
Sending you happy thoughts and a hug.
Ginny
About seven weeks ago, I spent my morning asking to be shown a way out of a serious spout of bad luck. That afternoon I was involved in a four-car crash on the interstate at 20 weeks pregnant. My first reaction was much like yours – Really? I mean, really? And now I can say, 28 weeks into my second pregnancy, I know what he was trying to tell me. He was showing me a way out. Just not how I expected it.
Hang in there. Thanks for being you.
Tonya
Hey Joy-
I’m sorry about your tragedy. I mean really I know what that is all about. But, I think you missed acknowledging your other blessings. Those two cookbooks-I mean you get to enjoy the view before most of us can and how exciting and terrific is that? Pretty terrific. There, you have a terrific glimmer in your day. Be blessed!
Ethan @ https://tastesbetterwithfriends.wordpress.com/
Only you could turn your day into an entertaining entry. On the positive side…at least the things that broke are replaceable:)
Loreena
No matter how bad a day is, life always gets better! At least you still have your mad baking skills. That definitely is another prayer of thanks right there!
Sandy@sandysbakingmemories.com
1st – I’m glad today is a better day! 2nd – you probably shouldn’t keep your grandmas cake stand on the coffee table, just sayin’. 3rd – Is that really a teeny tiny spoon?!?!
Have another beer and celebrate the good day!
Foodiebia
Thank goodness your camera survived that rough day! Hope Wednesday treats you better.
Samantha Angela @ Bikini Birthday
I hate to laugh at your misfortune as I’m not sure you’re yet reached the state where this series of events can be considered laughable, but the fact that you watched your coffee table collapse is hilarious.
Where did you buy the defective table? I’m in the market for a new one and I’d like to know what shop to avoid. :P
Theresa
3 cheers for finding the blessings in your eer, falling apartness? Glad today is better! :)
Darlene
Hey Joy, I guess it’s one of those days that when it rained, it poured. I have the exact same milk glass cake stand, I love it, and I’m glad yours survived the fall. Smile!
Em
I took pictures of my last disaster too. Well, it wasn’t a disaster, it was my expensive Jamba Juice smoothie ALL over my kitchen floor and fridge when it fell out of the freezer door. I decided why not document the terrible mess.
Glad today is a better day! Flowers and a cup of tea make my bad days better.
Ashley
Aw that really sucks. :( Happy to hear today is better for you and that your grandma’s cake stand was okay!
Megan (megabite)
Oh man! I hope your computer gets better soon. That is the worst when stuff like that happens. I can relate to your reaction to your coffee table breaking, and not being surprised. Sometimes days are just a mess, but thank goodness for tuna melts + beer. Fo real.
Sweet Pea Chef
What a horrible day! I’m glad your most important items didn’t break from the coffee table wreckage. Good call on the beer and tuna melts, though!
Jennifer
I just laughed so hard sitting here at work. Hilarious. That’s such a day in the life of me. Why, why, why??…at least we have our sense of humor still with us at the end of the day. And carbs. :)
Joanna
Unfortunately, we all experience those days every once in a while. Occasionally, I can laugh at the situation if I am in a good mood, but sometimes screaming at the top of your lungs is the best medicine. I’ve tossed things on the floor before out of frustration and then realized I had to pick it up. Doesn’t help when things are going south.
I’m glad you’re having a better day.
Rose @ The Bite Me Kitchen
I hear you sister, there’s nothing that tuna melts (and/or grilled cheese), copious amounts of fries and beer won’t fix. Hope your day is improving!
Allison [a for aubergine]
i’ve had those days, joy. ugh! they suck big time. i am sending good vibes you way, k?!
Bex
Now’s your chance to rebuild the coffee table so it’s better, stronger, (not faster, it doesn’t go anywhere. Probably won’t cost $6 million, either) and unbreakable! I sense a Home Depot trip.
Kara
The giant whisk had my howling… I mean, after I empathized for you and the crummy day. But the whisk? Yes, hilarious. Thanks for sharing with us even on the worst of days.
Oh, and those prayers that end with “Really??” seem all too often. Here’s hoping it was one of your last.
krista
that milk glass cake stand is the silver lining, yes? intact and gorgeous. (i’ll be honest…i scrolled through your photos before reading and immediately noticed that cake stand amidst everything. honed in on it like a…like a…(insert witty simile here.)
better day today, i’m hoping.
Maggy@ThreeManyCooks
Yea, I’ve had one of those weeks too. Think I’m gonna go find myself a tuna melt. Hope things start looking up soon. Keep smiling. And baking. And writing :)
Michelle @ Brown Eyed Baker
Things can only get better! May your computer rest in peace.
kristin
hahahahhahahahahahahha! (not laughing AT you, am laughing WITH you, i swear *innocent face*) – i had to do a double take ’cause i swear to goodness, i just read an excerpt from my life! keep on keepin’ on girl – today IS a better day!
Nicole
Yikes! It is a miracle your fragile items were spared. Hope today is going much, much better!
Julie @ Willow Bird Baking
Oh dear, what a day :( Better days in store ahead, I hope!! I’m glad your cake stand and tiny, tiny spoon survived the catastrophe.
Jessica @ How Sweet It Is
When it rains it pours! Today has to be better for you Joy!
