Happy Sunday my friends! I hope your week has been full, productive, filled with coffee and salad and the occasional treat. ย I’m working hard on a cookbook about BRUNCHย while preparing to jump up and down for my second cookbook releaseย Homemade Decadence. ย I feel very blessed to live these days.
There is lots of riffraff on the Internet these days. ย Here are some a few of my favorites from this week:
โข ย Let’s talk about technology. ย The Brave New Phone Call.
โข ย Are you ready for a new social network!? ย Don’t worry, I hear you screaming NOOOOOOO just below my own similar screams. ย Despite our cries…ย Ello. ย Is it the invite only anti-Facebook social network or is it just another pain in the rear? ย According toย The Atlanticย Ello Says You’re Not A Product But You Are.ย SIGH.
โข ย “Defying expectations is one thing; winning a war in which victory has not yet been adequately defined is another.” ย The Reluctant Loner President Builds a Coalition and Goes After Terrorists Across Syriaย because really bad things are still happeningย in Syria and Iraq.
โข Co-creator of The Simpsons Sam Simon is in a philanthropic race against terminal cancer: ย Always Leave Them Laughing.
โข ย Why Men Never Remember Anything. ย It’s not because they aren’t listening… it’s because as youths, boys are spoken to differently than girls.
โข ย I’m readingย Men We Reapedย by Jesmyn Ward. ย It is heartbreaking and beautiful.
โข ย I often skip wearing an apron in the kitchen because I don’t want a shapeless / boxy piece of fabric to ruin my dinner party outfit. ย Thankfully the new line of ย Salt House Apronsย keeps my fashion and kitchen vanity in mind with their lovely aprons. ย My favorite isย the Maxi.ย ย I wear it high-waisted and it’s super chic.
โข ย Never buy that little jar of pre-made Pumpkin Pie Spice again: ย Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice
โข ย There are new episodes of myย web seriesย Bonkers Awesomeย ready for you on ulive! ย Iย made the best caramel apples with the ladies of Liddabit Sweets and it was the best day!
โข ย New Joy the Baker Podcast for you:ย The GIF That Keeps On Giving.
โข ย Arugula Persimmon and Pomegranate looks divine.
โข ย Maple Pumpkin Latte Syrup. ย I believe this will be quite delicious!
Let’s enjoy this day! ย I love you, bye-bye!

Oh joy, I love those sunnies!! Also, so exciting for you to have two books in the works – couldn’t be more happy for you :)
okay, so i was excited to get your new book, before you mentioned BRUNCH. how could you do this to me? i know what the process of creating cookbooks is. you had to go and tempt me when i know it won’t be in my hands for at least another 2 years..!
Can’t wait for that brunch cookbook!! :)
Joy, I NEVER wear an apron in the kitchen. But, the ones you showed us are so pretty. I might just be changing my mind.
A brunch book? Yeah!
Big hugs,
Hata
Love the look, hot sunglasses and cute scarf. Good luck with the books and hey is that a tattoo on your shoulder? Mine is a raven and another one of a sunflower on my leg. That was one of the first things to do on my bucket list. Have a wonderful Sunday. Paulette
thanks for always leaving a thoughtful comment paulette! have a lovely day.
I love these roundups so much. If you’re enjoying Men We Reaped, consider Kiese Laymon’s Long Division, which is about a similar part of the south, Katrina is at the periphery of the story, and it’s probably my favorite book I’ve read in years. As a sidenote, I loved your blog when you were in LA, but I ADORE that you’re in Nola now. I grew up just north of there, and your perspective on the south is wonderful.
thanks so much for the suggestion! i’ll definitely check it out! the south is a very special place.
BRUNCH! That sounds pretty exciting, lady. I saw that pumpkin latte syrup the other day and got oh-so excited. Happening, very, very soon, that’s for sure. Hope your Sunday is great!

Well, you are just the CUTEST. Lovely roundup, thanks :)
I love these posts! Thanks for sharing the important serious things and the not-so-serious as well. Also I made that pumpkin maple latte and it really is as good as it sounds.
P.S. do you have a book tour schedule set up yet?
Wow – lots of great stuff here today (as always!!) I read an article about Sam Simon in ‘Vanity Fair’ – what an amazing guy. Wouldn’t he be fun to be friends with? I admire how courageous he is and how he’s making each and every meaningful by trying to make big differences in the world. I hope he’s able to ‘stay around’ for a while……
I love your Sunday posts! Hope you had a great weekend and hoping you have a wonderful week ahead of you :)
That apron is uhmazing. Want want want
I finished The Men We Reaped earlier this year. It was a tough, beautiful read.
I just ordered your new book! {I know, I know…WHY HAS IT TAKEN ME SO LONG?? I have no excuse.} I’m ecstatic to be able to hold this book in my hands because I know it is going to be a piece of edible art. {Well the book isn’t edible, but you get the point.} I am positive that I will be inspired by the project that you have poured your heart and soul into for the last year. Keep on being awesome! <3
Superinteresting post as always!!!
