Let It Be Sunday, 288!

Joy the Baker on the Bayou

Hello friends, good morning!

I’m taking a little break from our weekly reads today. My internet is down.  The support technician man was condescending to me for a solid 40 minutes on the phone trying to fix it this week. My generous self imagines a world where he has to tell people how to unplug and plug in very basic things all day long and that’s got to be very frustrating so OK SIR I’LL LET IT SLIDE.  You know when someone asks you a question but doesn’t leave any space for you to answer it?  That’s a particular person and, as I’ve learned to say down South, “bless his heart”.

Thank you for taking that on.

Instead of our weekly list of links, the invitation is to:

•  Go outside, sit and listen to the world.

•  Re-pot that plant you’ve been meaning to re-home.  (This is me @ me.)

•  Go outside and lay on the ground. Literally, lay that body on the earth.  There’s the most subtle season change happening right now and it might feel lovely to go outside and let our bodies soak it in.

•  Put on that chill piano spotify channel and make you and your household an easyfancy breakfast. Ask someone else to clean the kitchen if there is more than one person in your house. (Spotify, Joy the Baker)

•  Listen to this episode of Brene Brown’s podcast. (Brene Brown)

•  Make Deb’s Peach Butter. (Smitten Kitchen)

•  Take a big deep breath and then another, and then at least one more after that. Loosen your jaw and be like, wow why was I holding that so tight?

Take good care. I will see you next week with dumplings and more of me.

xo Joy

  1. Great post. Thanks for the nice list and humorous twist on the phone call. We’ve all been on both ends. That’s a lot of grace and a good example.

  2. Breakfast was late and leisurely this morning. Peach fritters adapted from your recipe for two doughnuts and a side of bacon.

  3. Bought myself diamonds. Inspired by your birthday post!! Hope you have such a relaxing weekend. Love your blog, going to make your doughnuts tonight or tomorrow morning. ?

    1. I like your pretty summer look and nice ideas for inhaling some earth vibes.
Bless everyone’s heart who lets go of a little frustration because they are so over worked right now and need a break! We can take it and send you peace and love!

  4. Hi Joy what a great idea especially up in New England the weather this weekend has been spectacular. Went to pick up my csa yesterday and spent several hours at the farm picking too many apples and blueberries. Just being outside was so relaxing. I took it all in. 2020 is finding sumple pleasures. But now gotta get baking yet that peach butter is tempting me. And bless your heart for not getting into it with the IT guy.. better woman than I! Thanks again for another lovely post.

  5. 1. That is a phenomenal picture of you.

    2. I made the dutch baby! By a stroke of luck I had all the ingredients on hand. It was so fun and easy to make! My husband and 2 young boys loved it and how fancy it looked. We decided that next time we’ll add more berries and some whipped cream. I think we found our next holiday breakfast dish!

  6. Hi Joy! Oh how I know “bless your heart” ?. One of the many things I love about the South.

I took the time you suggested. Yesterday, I went out into my deck and just let myself be for several hours. I didn’t realize how much I needed that. I think I’ll do that again, today.

Find your peace wherever and whenever you can.

    ?? Darla
