Thankful For You!

Hello dear friends and Happy Sunday!

You’ll allow me a little break from our Let It Be Sunday post this holiday Sunday. I’ve taken a bit of time off this week to spend time with a small handful of loved ones in Texas.  Our next Let It Be Sunday is #300 so I need to give it it’s proper attention when my work wheels are back running at full speed.

I wanted to thank each and every one of you who cooked from the magazine this Thanksgiving, those of you who pulled Dad’s Sweet Potato Pie from the oven, those of you who made cinnamon rolls (or cinnamon roll cake!) for weekend breakfast, each of you who dug up a long forgotten recipe here on Joy the Baker to share with people you love.  It fills me up – the thought that my food is yours and shared with such care. I am really so thankful for you.

I hope you’ve taken some time for yourself this weekend. I hope you’ve cracked a bottle of champagne. I hope you make a batch of chocolate chip cookies for no/every reason. I hope you splurge on a little something for yourself while holiday shopping.

Next week, and as we head towards the holiday, I have COOKIES FOR YOU! I’m going to put up the pie tins for the next few weeks and we’ll graze our way through the holiday cookie platter.  I’m also teaching folks how to make Spiced Mulled Wine Bars to support the Westchester Mental Health Guild this Thursday evening if you want in on the fun.

I’ll have much more for you next week!  Thanks for the grace today. Let this Sunday day be restful!

More soon, friends!

My love to you!

xo Joy

  1. All three meals the day after thanksgiving were leftovers recipes from your magazine – waffles, grilled cheese, and potpie! Looking forward to getting into cookies next week! Thanks so much for finding all of these amazing ways to brighten this challenging holiday season!

  2. This is the bees knees to see Westchester Mental Health Guild on your blog, Joy! I live/work in Westchester and this org does AMAZING WORK! And I’ve been a HUGE fan of your blog for years! In fact, I just made your browned butter chocolate chip cookies for the millionth time last weekend. Thanks for all you do- in the community and for our bellies and souls!

  3. Hi Joy! I was excited to find your magazine at the grocery store and we made the turkey pot pie for our 2 person thanksgiving meal. It was nice tackle it in parts (roast turkey thighs, chop veggies, make filling, make stuffing, make crust) over the days beforehand and MY WORD it was delicious. We loved it.

Looking forward to making lots of other things in there as well!

  4. I made the Malted Peanut Butter Pie from your magazine and WOW! It was the only pie that was completely devoured and we had a lotta pie at Thanksgiving! Cant’ wait to make more of the recipes in there.

  5. Joy,
I’m happy for you to be able to share your holiday with family in Texas. We shared time with our Austin family from CA (virtually). I’m so thankful that in this unusual time we have technology that allows me to cook with my kids and virtually hug them.
I’ll look forward to your #300 Sunday post. I always find something (or several things) to read.
    xo,
    Karen

  6. Hey Joy. I’m delurking to say that you are the best. Correct. I’ve adored you since your podcast with Tracy. Thanks for being you, and sharing good stuff. You’re good stuff, strangerfriend ??????

  7. I made your cream cheese pound cake (always a hit!) and the icebox pumpkin pie (which my husband has declared must now be a part of every Thanksgiving!). Thank you for all that you do!

  8. Happy Thanksgiving Joy. This section on the internet is my Sunday ritual and I love it. I’m grateful for this space you’ve created.

  9. Love the magazine Joy. I bought one as a gift for a friend and unfortunately did not get it to him in time for Thanksgiving, but he was thrilled! I told him I had already made the red beans and rice and smothered chicken, broth so delicious. He’s a writer, cookbook author and English professor. We were both remarking how beautiful the lay out is, it really reads like a cookbook. Maybe you will do more? Happy Sunday!

  10. Happy you are taking time for yourself! You give us so much of your time and energy and I really appreciate that you do. I love your recipes and make many. Thanks Joy!

  11. Thank you Joy for all your positive energy. Glad you are taking a break. I found your magazine at the gift shop where I work in central British Columbia, Canada… I knew right then, it was a sign… I must buy it! Can’t wait to go through it. I look forward to your Sunday posts, and everything else in between. Wishing you peace and love.

  12. I am thankful for your compassion, kickass baking skills, and the joy and love you share with us every week. I look forward to your posts every Sunday morning with my cup of coffee! My niece Emily introduced me to your cookbooks and blog and I am forever grateful for her, too! Safe travels home to us?

  13. Made dad’s sweet potato pie with meringue and it was my first sweet potato pie I’ve ever tasted. I’m a convert! last night made the brown sugar gingersnaps! Forgot the molasses because I’m losing my marbles, but who doesn’t like a gently spiced sugar cookie?! Will try again soon. Thank you for sharing!

  14. I made your Dad’s sweet potato pie for the first time. I’ll never use another recipe, it was the best! Safe travels to you.

  15. Thankful for you Joy! I’ve been following you since I was young and single and now I’m married with two kids. My husband knows your name cause your site is the first place I look to find recipes. This week I used your one stick of butter cupcake recipe for my sons socially distanced birthday party and it did not disappoint. All the best to you this season.

  16. Every year I look up your mashed potato waffles recipe-this year they became mashed potato pancakes because I didn’t feel like cleaning the waffle iron, but delicious either way!
