Mama’s Day Brunch Menu

Raspberry Lemonade

I love my Mama.

The older I get… the more I love my mama.

The farther away I get from being a bratty, insufferable and ungrateful teenager… the more I appreciate my mama.

Phew… I didn’t make it easy on her. ย Can I make up for those obnoxious years with brunch? ย I’m pretty sure it can’t hurt.

The key to making mama a Mother’s Day brunch is this: ย make brunch aaaaaaaand do the dishes. ย Sure, mama’s like brunch, but I think what they like even more than the food is seeing us kids clean up the kitchen after ourselves. ย It’s key. ย It’s shows our dear mama’s that they raised us right… cause they did.

Creme Fraiche Quiche

Make brunch. ย I totally think you should.

You might start off with thisย super clever quiche.

Crustless Quiche

I’ve even got a crustless quiche recipe for you. ย Now you really have no excuse not to make breakfast.

Salad at brunch. ย Mom’s like salad… it’s kinda their thing. ย Trust me on this one.

A homemade Caesar Salad? ย Kinda mind blowing delicious.

Blackberry Granita

Let’s keep dessert light and delicious. ย I love Blackberry Granita with lightly whipped cream. ย It feels dainty and delicate and is still super simple and delicious.

I think mama’s like it too.

Just don’t forget about the dishes. ย It’s important. ย Just think about how many bottles and diapers our moms washed for us. ย Yea… so no complaining.

  1. Joy! I love, love, love the new banner!

I hope the mother’s day brunch is off the hook tomorrow! I will not be making brunch for my mother but instead I will be taking her out for dinner. Easy, peasy!

  2. Too bad neither me or my mum have time for a real brunch this Sunday. But your entire menu is going in my to do-files :) I think it would be rather brilliant for her breakfast :)

  3. I definitely love my mom more the older I get, and started making her breakfast in bed (runny scrambled eggs and burnt toast) at the ripe old age of 6. At 16 I might have put some Ex-lax in the chocolate chip cookies (I plead the 5th on the grounds of hormones here), so I’m still doing penance at 50!

  4. Adore the cute, colorful, carefree new banner…but everything you do is the “bees knees” including the brunch menu, right on target for Mom’s Day, thank you!

  5. What a lovely brunch menu!!! I would be thrilled to have it! My two middle children made me breakfast this morning to celebrate Mother’s Day (they got confused and though it was today!) I got to have what we call, (I don’t know why) Puppy Chow, which is basically cereal mixed with chocolate and powdered sugar and sliced banana’s with dabs of chocolate on top. They hid the dishes under the stack of other dirty dishes…but hey, at least I didn’t see them! :) I wonder what I’ll get for my 2nd celebration!! :) ~Chris Ann (Hopefully the dishes done!)

  6. It’s all about the dishes. Cleaning up the dishes afterward. You are so right… that is the real gift! What a beautiful brunch, you have one lucky mom!

  7. Someone please make this for me!!! Lovely original ideas! Any foodie mom will love this menu. Nothing says I Love You like cooking for someone…

  8. My birthday and mothers day are usually in the same week so for a week I feel guilty for my mum taking 24hours to give birth to me and for me being a super bratty teenager. Thanks for the quiche recipe, it looks gorgeous!

  9. LOVE it and so true: something about getting older and wiser… wish there was a short-cut to gaining appreciation and wisdom sooner than later;)

  10. I was so touched by your cute words!!!! What fun finding the invite on your blog!!! I can hardly wait!! Can we make it in the early afternoon? and still call it a brunch-SURE!
I’m so amazed at how you are doing what you love and making it work. You have tenacity to stick to it and you can be proud of yourself. Dad and I sure are, too. Remember the song we used to play on the record player with the lyrics “Be the best of you that you can be”…..remember? Looking forward to the delicious dishes and drink and… I’m holding you to the dishes thing. Thanks for the good wishes from all and to all-Happy,happy Mother’s Day. You deserve it.

  11. What a sweet post! My mom is out visiting me for Mother’s Day and on the list is a beach picnic of Double Almond Croissants, Soft boiled eggs and strawberries (no dish washing required!). Your quiche looks pretty darn tasty though…next time!!

  12. You are making me so much more homesick! I wish so badly that I could spoil my mama with brunch AND the dishes…maybe I’ll postpone Mother’s Day brunch until I visit this summer.

Also, as I am typing this, I am eating a lemon poppy seed muffin. They are AWESOME!!! Thanks for the recipe–I am sure it will become a favorite.

  13. I remember a mother’s day where we opted for breakfast instead of brunch. Although my Mom still claims she enjoyed all the different dishes we had prepared, I have to laugh every time I look at the photos where you clearly see that she would have preferred to sleep in…

    The Blackberry Granita looks delicious!

  14. “Salad at brunch. Momโ€™s like saladโ€ฆ itโ€™s kinda their thing. Trust me on this one.” You are hilarious. I so love your writing.

  15. Love making brunch for Mom! For many years we’ve had a tradition… I make this awesome dish from a favorite restaurant that closed sometime in the ’90s. It was my Mom’s favorite Sunday brunch indulgence… crispy flatbread topped with fried green tomatoes, anduille sausage, poached eggs, and hollondaise. We call it Cajun Bendict and serve with yummy fried potatoes. Heart attack waiting to happen… but SO good! Yours looks a bit lighter… that granita sounds awesome!

  16. I wish I could fly home to make my mom this beautiful brunch! Cards just ain’t the same as your yummy forgiveness-for-terrible-teenager-years inducing quiche and granita, that my mom would surely die over. And say Happy Mothers Day to Mom ‘the Baker’ from your blog devotees.

  17. Ha, Joy, you are awesome because you just reminded me to stick my note and Starbucks card for mom in the mail. Hopefully it’ll get from Baltimore to Raleigh in two days!

  18. (oops, pressed return) I get older I miss my Mama very much and to show how much I love her I will most certainly be making her brunch when I get back. What a fantastic idea Joy. Mama’s rock!

  19. I’m returning home to stay with my family for a bit and am looking forward to reconnecting with my Mum. I left the county a decade ago and never got homesick but as

    *love*

  23. Moms are awesome….they have kids…and are married to one too! I have two kids…three if you count my spouse. THAT is why husbands should help the kids with brunch. We totally take care of them all…but why just once a year? ;)

  24. we’re having a cookout on sunday instead of brunch (church goes a little too late for brunch), but I love the idea of quiche! Next time :)

  25. Oh my! Fortunately I’m mama, but I will wait for such a food at least 10 years ;D But, it’s worth waiting! All the best to you and your Mum, Joy :)

  26. mama’s deserve a zillion brunches, dinners, lunches and dish washing…

wait! you didn’t tell us what those red cocktail-looking glasses contain! is it a secret mama recipe?

  27. I always do the dishes after dinner! Mamma makes it, so why should she clean up? Your menu is awesome. I know my mamma would love it :)

  28. As a mama of three, I love dang near everything about this post. Too bad my kids are too young to have the patience for making me brunch and my hubby is under a court order to stay out of the kitchen after the last fiasco (smoke, alarms and eventually a call to our favorite pizza place – it wasn’t pretty). Maybe they can hire a personal chef for the day and hand them this menu?
