Here’s the difference between you and me. ย You’re armedย with reason, and willpower, and common sense, and common decency. ย Me? ย Less so.
Perhaps it’s this lack of common decency that would lead me to dip perfectly good savory potato chips into perfectly good dark chocolate. ย The result seems to be a perfectly sinister meeting of savory / sweet / and chocolate. ย It’s trouble. ย Nothing but trouble.
Remember that time I made Peanut Butter and Pickle Sandwiches and everyone was like, UM… Joy the Baker has LOST IT! ย This is that! ย Except there’s chocolate involved, so maybe you’ll let this one slide.
How to be the most popular person at the party. ย How to win friends and influence people. ย How to be really good at life. ย How to do it right. ย These chocolate-dipped chips seem to solve most of life’s little vacancies. ย That’s awesome, right?
I don’t need to write you a whole recipe or give you step-by-step photographs for these chocolate-dipped potato chips. ย You know the deal. ย Here are a few pro-tips… as if you need them, pffft.

The Chocolate-Dipped Potato Chip
You’ll need:
– about 5 ounces dark chocolate, melted
– 1 tablespoon coconut oil stirred into the melted chocolate. ย (optional, but totally helps the chocolate loosen and set on the potato chip)
– ย 2 giant handfuls of potato chips (with ridges are preferred, you know?)
– ย vanilla sea salt (very optional, but lovely)
Dip the potato chips in melted chocolate. Place on wax or parchment. ย Chill for just a bit in the refrigerator to set the chocolate. ย Store in a cool place or just invite a friend over and devour every last one. ย Repeat. ย

So glad to have this recipe! I discovered chocolate-chip dipped potato chips in Japan in 2005. . .they are very popular there! Tried to make them at home and failed miserably.
And i thought i was the only one :D its good to see someone with similar thoughts ^_^
Oh, yum!! I saw these in the grocery store by Lays completely covered and I thought mmm… maybe but, homemade with half the chip dipped in chocolate just seems so much more appealing. Pretty much a must try now :) Thank you for sharing!
Looks delicious! I like mixing sweet and salty things.
I can already taste this and it’s incredible. Making these on my next cheat day after I’m done with my detox. I know, I know, this is probably the dirtiest way to come off a cleanse, but what the hay!
Yup! I want to marry you.
When I tell people that I LOVE chocolate covered potato chips, they usually look at me like I am kinda crazy. I mean really, they are the crazy ones – they are obviously NOT LIVING!
Seriously though, there is nothing better than sweet & savory. Chocolate and salt!
i first had chocolate dipped potato chips nearly 12 years ago. an ex introduced them to me (back when we were still dating). i may have looked at him like he was crazy, but oh man, he was right on. i’ve rarely had them since, because they are terribly addicting.
cant go wrong with peanut butter
Yum! Guess won’t have to decide between sweet and salty anymore ;)
I love chocolate and potato chips together and it feels nice to know I am not alone! oh and I will be trying that vanilla sea salt pronto
This isn’t really happening, right?
Oooof…I could do some damage to these. Crumbled bacon as an add-in Miss The Baker?
your killing me with the delicious recipes here! these look divine.. definitely something i need to try! thanks for sharing!
If by crazy you mean GENIUS! This is a ridiculously wonderful combo. You should also try them in a cookie form :)

Yummy!
When you start posting recipes about dipping ramen noodles in mountain dew and then consuming the duo, we’ll wonder about you. All this other stuff if just plain fabulous!! :) And yes, I totally knew someone who would do that–and she wasn’t pregnant. She was an 8-year-old I used to babysit. Not sure what made her start doing that! HA! Keep them coming, Joy!
I went through a phase where a bowl of melted chocolate and bag of potato chips was dinner… okay, I might still be in that phase. Such a great salty/sweet combo!
Chuao milk chocolate potato chip chocolate bars are my most favorite candy ever! Their description: Crisp kettle cooked potato chips and a hint of sea salt, mix and mingle in milk chocolate. And the cost a VERY pretty penny (around $7 per bar). I would love to substitute milk chocolate for the dark in this recipe. Would this be a 1:1 substitute?
Be still my beating taste buds! Chocolate & sea salt (vanilla no less) … a match made in culinary heaven.
I 100% support this!!! Once had chocolate covered potato chip ice cream…life changing.
This makes more sense the pickle and PB but I have to say I’m not 100% sure? I am still one of those people that has not dipped fries into my shake/ice cream despite the overwhelming consensus this will be magical.
Strangely I was in Japan a few weeks ago and chocolate dipped potato chips seemed to be the ‘in’ snack food. Wasn’t really for me, but a pretty cool eating experience nonetheless.

I had these in Nashville and they are heavenly!
