I’ve been wearing the same pair of jeans for the past week +, so for Halloween I’m thinking of dressing up in… not those jeans. Clearly that’s mostly just a favor to myself.
I hope you are feeling happy and grounded these days. Here’s what’s on my mind and on the Internet:
• Harassed on Twitter. What this election cycle looks like from the other side of a Twitter troll storm. It’s almost over… but when are we going to be less nasty to one another?
• I’m Not An Asshole I’m An Introvert. And now the pride of calling yourself an introvert has jumped the shark… thank god. Things were getting a little self righteous.
• This is very human: Patton Oswalt: I’ll Never Be 100 Percent Again
• I found this really interesting: The End of Adolescence
• Eat Cookies For Breakfast because the Italians tell us it’s a fine plan.
• Ina Garten is one of the few people The Cut won’t throw shade at, and for good reason. I Wish I Was Married To Ina Garten.
• I’m starting a Cookbook Club and I want you to join me! I’m reading tips on how to bring a Cookbook Club to life on Food52 and this from Serious Eats: Why Cookbook Clubs Should Be The Way We Entertain.
• Some bits I’m enjoying this week! I made myself a coconut oil sugar scrub inspired by this recipe. Also wonderful is this Warming Mustard Bath and this honey-sweetened Turmeric Tonic.
• I know we’re early on this but the grocery stores have already started lining the end-caps with cranberry sauce and I can’t help myself: Cranberry Brie Grilled Cheese
• Unpacking this list of Best Bakeries in New Orleans.
• This is my new favorite knife.
• I’ve got a few good Thanksgiving recipes coming up on the site and in my research I found this helpful recipe and bit of knowledge from King Arthur. Freeze and Bake Dinner Rolls! You don’t even have to let them rise. The dough is shaped and goes right in the freezer. Thaw and let rise for 4 to 5 hours before baking. That means fresh rolls on Thanksgiving!
Enjoy this Sunday! I hope you’re dressed up all snazzy in something clever.

I’ll join your cookbook club.
I only own one pair of jeans at the moment. They get worn all week and washed on Sunday. When they wear out, I’m going to be sad.
Love the idea about cookbook clubs! Finding that many folks that are excited about cooking/willing to put in the time has proved to be a bit difficult, at least in my immediate social circle. Any Joy readers in Buffalo? Maybe I can check the local book store, thanks for the ideas!
Love this article, along with your entire page! :)
Keep up the good work, and feel free to follow for similar content.

Very intrigued by the Misen knife. What do you like about it?
Well weighted and balanced knife that feels good to use
I look forward to these posts all week.
The Patton Oswalt article is so heart breaking and real and honest and real and ouch.
I’ve never heard of a cook book club but I DESPERATELY want to start one. Like… immediately. Or maybe once the holidays are over… either way.
Signed,
The girl who got a new pair of jeans last week and hasn’t worn anything else, since.
Good jeans are hard to come by, so I say if you can wear them everyday and still love them.Go for it!
I broke down and washed my jeans this past week. I finally put them on again yesterday. Obviously, I have to wear them again today to really break them back in. ;) Glad to see I’m not the only one who goes multiple days in the same jeans!!
I have 3 pairs of jeans that I regularly wear for a week at a time. No shame.
I’ve actually heard it’s better for the fabric if you don’t wash them as much.
I just got my Misen knife in the mail after backing on Kickstarter! Can’t wait to use it!
Right!? So exciting!
I’ll join your cookbook club! ???????? I’m moving next month into my first house and I can’t wait to break in the kitchen.
I’m part of a cookbook club at a local bookstore that only sells cookbooks (heaven, danger zone) and it’s one of my favorite days of the month. Good luck with yours!
I look forward to this every Sunday afternoon toggling btwn football and roasting something in my Le Cruset. So where may I procure that gorgeous bread?!
I don’t use Twitter…too much hatred…not in my vocabulary. This is our country, let’s love it and each other. How can you not love the Barefoot Contessa!?!?
The Harassed on Twitter interview was interesting, but most people don’t know that David French wrote defending the GamerGate harassers several years ago. He also condemned the women who were being harassed, targeted, and stalked as being overreactive and hysterical. I don’t have a lot of sympathy for him. This is his karma coming home to roost.
I read about some woman who actually has a blog about jeans. Amazingly, she buys just one new pair each year and has a maximum of 3 pair: the new ones for work/going out; the year-old ones for weekends/casual; the 2-year-old ones for dirty work. Something to think about.
Um, I have three pairs of jeans and wear one pair for going out, one pair for running errands and one for gardening. Is that good or bad? I only buy jeans when I can find some that fit my humpy dumpty figure.
This sounds very practical!
I think it makes life much easier with always wearing the same jeans :)
