The Sunday Five: Getting Old, Staying Cool, and a Must-Listen Album | 10.25.26

Friends, hi! Reporting live from late Saturday night where I’ve just turned the lights off downstairs and settled at the kitchen table for today’s last task – saying a quick Sunday hello to you! We’re hosting Will’s parent’s 50th wedding anniversary at the house in Bellville tomorrow and I simply can’t settle until the house is mostly ready for guests. It’s feeling good. I love the still before the house is filled to the brim.

Here’s a quick five for your Sunday. I hope something here creates a spark for you.  Have such a wonderful day!

•  Great news: The Cool Girls Are Getting Old And Staying Cool with ease, style (this one is key!), and mismatched lips.

•  I’m excited to bake for you on November 7th in Bellville! Here’s the next menu for The Bakehouse Texas! It’s feels good to develop new JtB recipes specifically for the little cottage bakery (the banana bread I made last month had a nearly alarming amount of butter).  I’m taking notes for my next cookbook proposal – let’s see if we can dust off those skills, what a thrill!

•  This makes sparks fly in my brain: I started making a magazine of my life each year, and it completely changed the way I remember it. I’ve already tried my hand at making magazines and zines but a publication for the family! FUN! My work these next decades is to make tangible memory pieces that will exist beyond shouting into the void of the internet and the algorithm.

•  Brining these to a party next Friday just so I can eat a few in the car on the way over: Snickers Apple Slices with date caramel, peanuts and dark chocolate.

• Please promise me you’ll put this new album low hangin fruit from Madeline Edwards on this Sunday morning? It’s incredible. Soul Will Survive is the anchor.

Friends, enjoy your Sunday. I’m off to host a party and pass my baby around.

My love to you,

Joy
